LA MESA (KGTV) - San Diego County Sheriff's officials are working to find out who shot a 21-year-old man in the neck and how he ended up in a Lemon Grove park.Staff at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa reported that the victim was dropped off around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. LEMON GROVE, CALIF. (KGTV) - Lemon Grove’s financial issues have some in city hall talking about bankruptcy or disincorporation.The city says if action is not taken to correct their budget deficit, it will eat into reserve funds that they cannot afford to lose.Lemon Grove City Council voted against increasing its sales tax last month which would have added almost two million dollars to their yearly general fund.An identical discussion occurred in 2010 when the then City Council was asked to consider a tax measure on the ballot and it was denied.“I don’t think they’re qualified to run a lemonade stand,” said Brent Johnson, a Lemon Grove resident, “I don’t understand why people spend so much money on frivolous things.”Lemon Grove has already outsourced its law enforcement to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and if the city was disincorporated its remaining governmental responsibilities would go the county.“I think it should be the county’s turn to run things here” said another resident Doug Hutton, “things could get better here.”The city maintains they are not considering disincorporation or bankruptcy right now, but a decision will have to be made in the next 4 to 7 years.Only 17 cities in the history of California have been disincorporated. 1277

(KGTV) - The J Company is telling the story of America's founding fathers, with a twist.This spring, they're staging the classic musical 1776 with an all-female cast."We need to support our young women and let them know they can be anything and anybody they want to be if they just put their minds to it," says director Joey Landwehr, who came up with the idea of casting only young women in roles portraying men.The musical tells the story of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and the rest of the Continental Congress as they debated the merits of breaking free from England during the Revolutionary War. Some of the actors say they see the relevance to today's political climate in the story."Even though I know I'm pretty set on my political views, I do understand that other people have their own and that we need to find that middle ground," says Camille Le Saux, who will play Ben Franklin in the show. "That's what this play tends to focus on, and I think that's very relevant today."Others say it's empowering to see young women playing strong, influential men."It's showing that women can be powerful and women can be strong, and women can be angry and upset and passionate," says Caroline Egler. She's playing John Adams, a role she's wanted to tackle since she first learned of the show in 8th grade."Reading through the script again, I realized how beautiful it is and how human it is," Egler says.Rehearsals began this week at the Lawrence Family JCC in La Jolla. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Residents were told to shelter in place following a shooting in a La Mesa neighborhood Thursday evening. La Mesa Police tweeted Thursday evening that neighbors near Harris Street and Waite Drive needed to shelter in place just before 6:30 p.m. A little over an hour later, the department said residents no longer needed to shelter in place. According to police, a woman was shot inside a home in the neighborhood and was able to call police to report the incident. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say they are searching for a suspect, but have no description at this time. The neighborhood is located just off State Route 94 blocks away from Vista La Mesa Academy. 745
