ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — Police say a gunman opened fire inside an Illinois bowling alley, killing three people and injuring three others during what authorities believe was a random attack. Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea says a 37-year-old white male suspect is in custody after the shooting Saturday night at Don Carter Lanes. Police were not seeking any other suspects. O'Shea did not immediately release additional information about the person of interest or the victims. (AP) — Google says Android phones will be used to sense earthquakes around the world and may one day be able to provide global warnings, with the first mass alert system unveiled Tuesday in California. The Android operating system maker says it's using California's network of seismometers to trigger phone alerts. “This announcement means that California’s world-class earthquake early warning system will be a standard function on every Android phone — giving millions precious seconds to drop, cover and hold on when the big one hits,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement.Android users who have enabled location services and are near a quake of magnitude 4.5 or greater will receive a full-screen earthquake warning, according to ABC News. Authorities say that could give people nearby precious seconds to seek safety. No app is needed. Google also announced that Android phones around the world will begin acting as mini-seismometers to sense tremors. Ron Jeremy, an adult film star, is charged with forcibly raping three women and sexually assaulting a fourth in separate incidents between 2014 and 2019.The Los Angeles County District Attorney announced the charges against 67-year-old Ronald Jeremy Hyatt Tuesday, and said three of the incidents happened at the same bar in West Hollywood.The District Attorney accuses Hyatt of sexually assaulting two women, ages 33 and 46, on separate occasions in 2017 at the bar.
