LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Families of those killed and wounded in a California shooting rampage three years ago are suing manufacturers and sellers of "ghost gun" kits that provide easy-to-assemble firearm parts that make it difficult to track or regulate owners.A pair of wrongful death lawsuits accuse 13 defendants of negligence, public nuisance and violation of business codes.The cases were brought by Brady United, the nonprofit that advocates against gun violence.One of the defendants calls the suits an attempt to to "frustrate the lawful purpose of making your own firearms."The other defendants didn't immediately respond to media requests for comment. 665

Robert Redford’s publicist, Cindi Berger, said in a statement Monday that his 84-year-old father is mourning with his family during this “difficult time.” James' wife, Kyle, confirmed in an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune that her husband died Friday from bile-duct cancer in his liver. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has ordered the release of a Southern California man who spent 19 years in prison for a gang-related shooting. The judge on Friday approved a re-sentencing request from prosecutors for Emon Barnes. The 34-year-old Compton man is expected to be freed next week. Barnes was 15 when he was arrested for a Compton shooting. He was sentenced to 40 years to life for attempted murder. Barnes says he was home with his mother at the time of the shooting. A victim who identified him has since recanted. His attorneys say they will try to have his conviction vacated. 594
