SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego program has received a state grant to train law enforcement officers across California.The program, Game Changer, was founded in 2016 by Sean Sheppard after he saw large protests break out across the country against police brutality.His idea was simple. He would bring members of the public together with law enforcement officers over a sports game."To get some human bonding time," explains Sheppard. "Because that rarely takes place between law enforcement and the general public."Before, they would talk for a few hours about what issues they saw between police and the communities they serve. After, they would get to socialize at the game.Since 2016, Game Changer has hosted 60 events and continues to grow.The Game Changer model was just awarded a 2-year, 0,000 grant from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.Once the program is accredited, law enforcement personnel who complete a Game Changer event can put it toward their required training credit hours.Members of the public are needed too. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A thief struck an ugly chord with residents in a Del Cerro neighborhood, after zeroing in on a porch and warming up his pipes.    Just off College Avenue, Katherine - who asked us not to reveal her full name - says the first feeling was confusion when she and her husband returned home from Julian on Saturday night.  On their porch, the couple says they found an opened letter addressed to a man in El Cajon. When they looked at the surveillance video, they saw him:  a casually dressed man pulls up in a pickup truck.            "He is holding the letter so he has a plan, a story if anybody stops him," said Katherine.On the video, the man heads right for the package at the front door and swipes it.  He throws the package in the truck, tosses the letter and as gets back into the truck, he appears to belt out a note.  As he backs out of the driveway, he keeps on singing."The singing clearly shows he's completely comfortable, really cocky...just going to his next gig.  I think it's his weekend job," said Katherine.Katherine can't help but smile about the likely sour note he experienced once he looked inside and found - a dog brush and mug.  Now she's hoping the video will lead to an arrest."He's clearly done this before.  No doubt he's out doing this again," said Katherine. 1414

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A school bus crashed into a San Diego Center for Children dormitory Wednesday afternoon, creating a massive hole in the side of the building.Officials say a San Diego Unified School District bus driver lost control of the bus on the 3000 block of Armstrong Street, causing the bus to collide with the building.No children were inside the building or the bus at the time of the crash. The bus driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.Contractors have responded to the scene of the crash to assess the damage to the building. Officials with the center say all eight rooms in the dormitory are unusable following the incident. 659

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A vandal targeted at least a dozen vehicles at a popular shopping center in University City on Friday, flattening tires across one of the parking lots."It's very upsetting," said Camille Bsaibes.Bsaibes showed 10news a Toyota RAV4 with a flat tire. The vehicle belongs to his son. Bsaibes, who owns Amardeen restaurant, located in the Renaissance Towne Centre, experienced his own flat tire Friday while driving his van. Bsaibes didn't notice it until he was one the road."When I was driving, I was shaking ... wondering why it was shaking," said Bsaibes.Bsaibes pulled over and found three of his tires flat. His total bill to replace tires? Nearly 0. That day, three of his employees also felt their tires go flat as they were driving home from work. They were all parked in the same back lot. It was a similar story for four employees of the L-Transformation beauty boutique. In all, at least 12 vehicles from 4 of the businesses were hit in one day. It happened in broad daylight at the busy shopping center, sometime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m."The tire shop said somebody used a long, sharp object and punctured the side of the wheel," said Bsaibes.The flat tires weren't immediately obvious and didn't become a problem until the vehicle were on the road. Many working at the shopping center wonder if that was on purpose. Was the vandal hoping to cause havoc on the roads? "I'm glad everyone is safe. It could have been worse. On the road, who knows what could have happened. It's shaken us all up," said Ly Tran, who owns L-Transformation. 1576
