It's a big change for people and pets as well.Veterinarians warn pets who haven't experienced separation anxiety before could still be at risk of having it now.Many have gotten used to a new routine of having humans at home.Other dogs may be more prone to this anxiety if they already suffer from other types of it, like when there's a thunderstorm or loud noises.“It’s similar to people having general anxiety and being higher strung,” said Dr. Jessica Romine, an internist with Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners. “So, if you notice that your dog tends to have a really strong reaction to storms, that could be a warning sign that they may also have that.”Some other signs include your pet not being able to separate themselves from you when you go to other rooms in the house.If they damage things at home whenever you're away for short periods of time, Romine says they’re not angry, they’re panicked.If you're headed back to work soon, a few things you can do to ease their anxiety is practice going away for a while, practice crate training. When you return home, try not to make a big deal out of it.“It’s a completely natural instinct to greet our dogs that are just thrilled to see us,” said Romine. “We're just as thrilled to see them and coo over them, but that really just makes it a huge highlight when you leave and come back, so the general recommendation when you leave and come back is to greet them briefly and then try and let them calm down.”Reward calm behavior. "It’s supposed to be a place of education and I can’t really get back into that sense of academia and creativity with all that’s going.”On their first day back from spring break, Broward County School District enacted new security measures at the high school in an effort to keep students safer.Jack and his classmates weaved through rows of barricades to get into school. Jack tweeted a video of the experience.“It’s seriously like the TSA," he said in the video.Jack's peers also took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the security measures.“Posting stuff like that gives the whole audience of Twitter a big insight into what it’s like now in the day of Marjory Stoneman Douglas," Jack said.Jack said there are no metal detectors at the entrances yet, but he's expecting that to come soon.Some students tweeted asking if pre-check will be available like at the airport and if they need to start taking off their shoes when they get to school.However, the new clear backpacks got most of the heat on social media. “I don’t think that it does anything," Jack said. She says that’s what would make her and her peers feel safer, something she knows adults are trying to do.“Until we see all of us on the same page working together, nothing’s going to happen," she said.“I don’t know what exactly America needs right now, but I do know that we’re all talking about it," Jack said.Florida Highway Patrol troopers are guarding entrances to the school as Governor Rick Scott promised nearly two weeks ago. SHELBYVILLE, Mich. — A sheriff in western Michigan says he doesn't have any regrets about appearing on stage at an anti-coronavirus lockdown rally in May with a man who was charged Thursday in a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf was a guest speaker at a May rally in Grand Rapids against Whitmer's stay-at-home orders. Standing alongside him at the event was William Null, one of several men charged Thursday for his apparent connection with militia group Wolverine Watchmen and their alleged plot to kidnap Whitmer.Null and his brother Michael were charged with providing support for terroristic acts and felony weapons charges.A neighbor of William Null, speaking under the condition of anonymity, said they witnessed the FBI raid and said they shocked to hear details of the militia group's plot."In this area I had heard that there was a lot of militia people, their right to do so. But to the extent that we just found out last night, totally surprised about that," the neighbor said.The Null brothers had ties to militia groups and were frequently seen at local demonstrations, including in at a rally in Grand Rapids protesting Whitmer's stay-at-home order that took place in May.William Null was spotted on stage standing alongside Leaf, who was a guest speaker at the event.Leaf said that while his agency wasn't involved in the investigation into the Wolverine Watchmen, he was "shocked" to learn of Null's involvement."I haven't read everything up on it, I've got other duties to do. Because you can still — in Michigan, if it's a felony — make a felony arrest.""I think it's MCL 764.4, 764.5 somewhere on there, and it doesn't say if you are an elected office that you're exempt from that arrest. I have to look at it from that angle, and I'm hoping that's more what it is. In fact, these guys are innocent till proven guilty, so I'm not even sure if they had any part of it," Leaf added.Leaf was likely referring to MCL 764.16, which allows private citizens to make an arrest in certain cases. According to the U.S. Justice Department, the former Bears receiver conspired with others to get millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, which he then spent on luxury items.The DOJ said in a press release that Bellamy applied for an received a PPP loan of more than .24 million for his company, Drip Entertainment LLC. Bellamy then allegedly spent more than 4,000 in luxury goods from Dior, Gucci and retail jewelers “using proceeds of his PPP loan,” DOJ said in a press release.Bellamy is also accused of spending more than ,000 in PPP loan proceeds at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and withdrew more than 2,000, the DOJ alleges.Bellamy is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida and played collegiately at Louisville. Though he went undrafted, he eventually caught on with the Chicago Bears and started 57 games for the team between 2014 and 2018. He spent last season with the New York Jets, and his season ended early after he injured his shoulder.
