SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Lifeguards in Solana Beach have taped off an area near Fletcher Cove after a series of small bluff collapses. Video of the crumbling cliff was captured on camera Sunday afternoon. Chunks of the sandstone tumbled about 75 feet down to the beach. No one was injured but signs were still up warning beachgoers to stay away from the unstable bluffs. 383

(KGTV) -- Bike riders in Solana Beach were out in their bright pink Saturday morning to raise money for breast cancer patients. It was all part of the annual Boob Ride lead riders along the coast, some as far north as Camp Pendleton. Participants could ride for 30, 60 or 90 miles.After the ride, there was a big party at Tidewater Tavern where riders enjoyed a buffet, massages and beer. Over 200 cyclists were expected, over 300 showed up to the after party.All of the money raised goes to help breast cancer patients with meal preps, rides to appointments and other needs.  630

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Rapper Lil Wayne has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that he possessed a weapon despite being a convicted felon following a 2019 search of a private plane in the Miami area. The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, entered the plea Friday during a hearing held remotely before U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams. Williams set a Jan. 28 sentencing date. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, but it's likely Carter would get less time. SOLANA BEACH (CNS) - A 77-year-old Solana Beach man diagnosed with dementia was reported missing Monday.Uldarico Baquero was last seen near his home in the 600 block of Nardo Avenue about 9 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.Baquero is Hispanic, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark green jacket and gray shorts, the department said.Anyone with information on Baquero's whereabouts was asked to call the sheriff's department at 858-565-5200. 515

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Solana Beach is one of San Diego County's most expensive places to live, but it has no affordable housing.Now, the City Council may pursue turning a part of the City Hall parking lot into a 19-unit mixed-use affordable housing complex. The council could vote Wednesday to issue a request for proposals for development of the site, with the hopes of selecting a company to build it by September. City Hall, by the way, is across the street from steps that lead to its famous beaches. "It'd be like winning the lottery," said Christian McDonough, one of the hundreds of people who work in Solana Beach's tourist-facing businesses, but can't afford to live there. "If you're in the service industry, you're most likely not living in Solana Beach."This would be the city's second attempt to add affordable housing. In 2014, the council approved a 10-unit complex called The Pearl, down the block from City Hall. It is still awaiting financing after surviving a legal challenge, developer Ginger Hitzke said.Richard Earle, who rented a blufftop condo for more than a month, said he supports the idea of affordable housing, but said it wouldn't solve the larger problem."It's going to turn into a gong show for 5,000 applicants and we're going to say, here's the lucky 20," Earle said. Zillow reports that the average rent in Solana Beach is ,837 a month, up 4.7 percent from a year ago.    1459
