(KGTV) — Two San Diego breweries are coming together to help veterans and first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.Julian's Nickel Beer Co. collaborated with San Diego's Bitter Brothers Brewing Co. to create Warrior Contribution Beer, a 5%, golden ale described as, "a beer that everyone could enjoy and that would be perfect for our warm San Diego days," Nickel Beer Co. owner, Tom Nickel, says.All of the beer's proceeds will be donated to Julian's Inner North Star PTSD Retreat Center to help provide no-cost retreats to veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD.RELATED: Museum of Beer planned to open in San Diego's East Village next yearNickel says the beer started as a fundraiser idea, before it snowballed into a year-round offering."Then the thought grew into possibly brewing a special beer to release around San Diego for June, which is PTSD Awareness Month. Almost immediately the idea became to brew a year-round beer that would help raise awareness of the PTSD Retreat Center's mission as well as raise money to help put veterans and first responders through the program at no cost," Nickel said.Warrior Contribution Beer will be distributed by Karl Strauss Brewing Company across Southern California starting in May, including at local America Legion and VFW posts. JULIAN, Calif. (CNS) - A 63-year-old man died after crashing his pickup into a tree at an RV park near Julian, authorities said Wednesday.The crash happened about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday on KQ Ranch Road in the KQ Ranch RV resort, off state Route 79, California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow said.The victim was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup eastbound when, for unknown reasons, he drove off the north side of the road and slammed into a tree, Garrow said.Witnesses attempted to help the driver until medics arrived, but the man was pronounced dead before he could be airlifted to a hospital, the officer said.The driver's name was withheld pending family notification.Investigators determined that alcohol and/or drugs were suspected factors in the crash and the man was not wearing a seatbelt, Garrow said. 820

Kentucky Speaker of the House Jeff Hoover resigned from his position Sunday amid sexual harassment allegations, saying he had made "mistakes."Hoover, who The Courier-Journal newspaper in Louisville reported had secretly settled a sexual harassment allegation by a woman on his legislative staff, did not resign as a state representative, however, and has denied all allegations."I did make mistakes, in that I engaged in inappropriate text messages," the Republican lawmaker said at a press conference announcing his decision. "I engaged in banter that was consensual, yet make no mistake, it was wrong on my part to do that. And for that I am truly sorry."The Courier-Journal was the first to report Hoover's settlement last week, citing sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The store has been operating for decades, and Davis’ family has owned it for more than 40 years.Generations of the community have come through these doors, but now, Davis is worried this neighborhood staple may have an expiration date.“Whether we can make it the rest of the year, I don’t know,” said the father of four and grandfather of eight.Davis said his store’s sales took a big hit when a new neighbor moved in just a few blocks away. “This year, we had a Dollar General open up in Kingsley,” he said. After the discount store opened, Davis said his profits dropped by about 20-percent.“It’s disheartening,” said Davis. “You just do what you can, and that’s all you can do, so you just gotta kind of accept it. But you don’t want to; you want to fight it.”The loss in income is something he can’t afford for long. “It costs us ,000 a month just in electricity,” said Davis, as he pointed at the cold storage inside his store that’s necessary to keep frozen products, meats and produce fresh.But Davis has a bigger worry: the loss his entire town is about to see.“If we lose our store here in town, if you want a head of lettuce, you’ll have to drive 25, 30 miles. They always talk about a food desert, and that’s what we’ll have here if we end up having to close the store like we did the other one,” said Davis, referring to his second grocery store just a few miles away.What used to be a space packed with fresh produce is now empty, collecting dust. Davis and his family were forced to close just over one year after Dollar General opened right next door.“They came in and took about 30 percent of our business right off the top.
