SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Feeling overwhelmed by bills? 10News is exploring solutions for making it in San Diego and found there may be a way around the mountain of debt.A recent study by Lendedu suggests companies are open to allowing consumers to negotiate their bills. Using data provided by the company Truebill, Lendedu analyzed which companies tend to be more generous in negotiating with customers.Satellite service providers were analyzed in the report. Customers of SiriusXM had the highest success rate in negotiations, according to Lendedu. Consumers had negotiation success rates in the 80s with three other companies, Suddenlink, Centurylink, and Dish Network, the report showed.The study went on to note, “When it came to how much companies actually knocked off the average customer’s bill, SiriusXM once again led the way; the average SiriusXM customer was able to decrease that monthly charge by 40 percent or more. Osinski says the way businesses make their money, especially when it comes to services, is through recurring revenue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Defense Secretary James Mattis has signed the extension of troops at the border, a defense official confirmed to ABC News. The extension was requested by the Department of Homeland Security after hundreds of migrants rushed the San Ysidro Port of Entry in a show of force. The move means the troops will be extended through January 31. Two officials told ABC News it’s unclear how many of the 5,600 troops currently at the border will be extended. The source also said there will be a flow-in of new forces as other units flow out because their specialties are no longer needed. Engineering units were named as one of the specialties no longer needed at the southern border. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- High School sports in the fall has been a big question mark due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and next week, the California Scholastic Federation is expected to make a decision as to whether the students athletes will be taking the field. But one local head coach is encouraging parents to step up, and voice their opinion on the matter. Scripps Ranch football coach Marlon Gardinera, has formed "Letfamiliesdecide.org"."So if everybody really wants the kids in school, what we have to do is give them a voice in letting them get back to high school sports. As an example, at Scripps Ranch High School, ninety-four percent of the families said not only do they want their kids back in school, but they want them on campus."Currently, coach Gardinera says the number of players has increased at the Falcons summer's workouts"Parents are deciding they want their kids on campus. Thirty percent more of them are sending their kids out to football this summer. The kids have been cooped up in the house, and parents want them participating in a controlled activity."Of course with safety being the number one priority."We take everyone's temperature, and we ask them five symptom related questions before we let them loose. Psychologists are noticing the impact is huge on their patients and this far into the pandemic, they're seeing burnout."The keyword here is feeling overwhelmed. If you feel overwhelmed there's a strong association to burnout," Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel said.Carcel said if you feel overwhelmed, stop, sit down and figure out what is triggering these strong feelings, "map out what is triggering you the most, so if you're having work stressors, for example, identify the current stressors you're having and problem-solving."She said working on ways to solve those problems will dissipate those feelings.For parents who are juggling multiple roles as school approaches, she said plan it out as well. "Figuring out, okay. what is it I have to do in order to mitigate my roles here and partner with friends family or your spouse in order to make that effective," Carcel said.Carcel said it's important to recognize any anger or irritation that comes up is based on the pain we are feeling, and knowing it's okay to feel this way."Process your grief for the state of the world, process your grief for the current situation, it will help move you forward," she said. "We have never seen anything like this where an entire world has been impacted and we are seeing detrimental effects."Ways to heal include finding joy. She suggests creating a list of things that make you happy so you can go to them at a moment's notice.Carcel added that creating a happy playlist, dancing, picking up a hobby, or checking off items on your bucket list."Right now is a wonderful time if you've ever wanted to play an instrument this is the time to learn, if you've wanted to learn a foreign language this is the time to learn," Carcel said, noting the most important thing is to remember this is not forever.She said you can do it and you have a support system, people who love and support you.
