The details are sparse, but according to ABC News, the President will attend a “joint fundraising committee luncheon” on September 18 at an unknown location. The event follows several other fundraisers Trump is slated to attend this week, including several in Palo Alto, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly 140 pounds of liquid methamphetamine and two pounds of heroin were discovered inside a vehicle’s gas tank and spare tire at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection says.According to the agency, the drugs were discovered after a detector dog alerted officers to the undercarriage of the vehicle around 4:30 a.m. Monday.Following the alert, officers guided the driver, a 52-year-old woman who is a citizen of Mexico and lawful U.S. resident, to a secure location for inspection.RELATED: Previously-deported sex offender arrested by Border Patrol in San DiegoThat’s when, according to CBP, officers found the drugs hidden inside the gas tank and spare tire.The driver was turned over to agents with Homeland Security Investigations while a 71-year-old female passenger was released.The narcotics are estimated to have a value of 5,000. 901

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- People throughout San Diego County are searching for answers after hearing a mysterious boom Wednesday afternoon. Dozens of San Diego Residents in La Jolla and Del Mar took to Twitter after hearing the noise before 12:45 p.m. "Felt it in La Jolla / Windansea - even my dogs started barking," one Twitter user said, referring to the noise. Several people wondered whether or not an earthquake could be to blame, but according to the United States Geological Survey, the nearest earthquake was a 2.9 magnitude near Corona reported at 4:16 a.m. Wednesday. USGS' website states that, "reports of a bang are a clue that it's a sonic boom, but not an ironclad indicator since shallow earthquakes often sound like booms or bangs."10News has reached out to military officials to see whether or not military exercises may have caused the boom.The Marine Corps, however, did send a statement that reads, in part: "While we are aware of media reports of a possible sonic boom, no 3rd MAW units have reported one in San Diego air space. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mostra Coffee, the San Diego-based coffee company that recently won the award for Best Roaster in the U.S., has opened its second brick-and-mortar store.The move is a risk, as many small businesses had to close or scale back during the coronavirus pandemic."Being an entrepreneur, it's just something that you pretty much fight for, and you are you're kind of programmed to just take a leap off the cliff even though you don't know what's happening," said Jelynn Malone, one of Mostra's co-owners.The new location is in 4S Ranch, an area of town that asked Mostra to move in. A petition in 2019 calling for the new location got more than 1,500 signatures."It was something that the community rallied for, and we felt that the community deserved it," said Malone. "So we just piecemeal this thing and slowly worked our way through to the point where we can actually open."But Malone admits it was scary taking that kind of risk during the Pandemic."Being a small business with over 20 employees, including my own family, it was very troubling and scary," she said.The company went through layoffs in the spring, and work on the new location slowed to a crawl. To keep the business going, Mostra built a website and app to allow for curbside pick-up and online ordering.Now that the new 4S Ranch location is open, Malone and her co-owners say the struggle has made their success more enjoyable."I'm so happy we made this decision, and I'm so happy with how the shop turned out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New plans for a development in the Bay Park neighborhood are aimed at providing "transit-oriented" homes amid the region's housing crunch.Protea Properties has plans for the 3.5-acre lot right off Interstate 5, between Clairemont Drive and Morena Boulevard. The site is located across from the future Blue Line Trolley Station.The development director of the project confirms the development includes 156 apartments and 40,000-square-feet of retail and restaurant spaces. Some community members are concerned with the current plans and tell 10News they hope their concerns will be heard and changes will be made. "We're trying to back the city off from slamming us with density and trying to get a project that meets everybody's needs," local James Lamattery said.Lamattery says the community is fighting for more affordable housing units and lower building heights. Right now, the plans call for two, four-story buildings and 16 apartment units for affordable housing. The city is reviewing plans before they vote on required permits. The development director says the earliest the project could be complete is 2022. 1145
