SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A wildlife overpass near Salt Lake City is proving to be successful at helping animals safely migrate over a busy interstate.The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (UDWR) hailed the Parley's Canyon overpass a success in a recent Facebook post, saying it has also helped motorists stay much safer as well.In its Facebook post, UDWR included video that show many animals using the overpass to safely cross to the other side of Interstate 80. Cameras set up along the bridge captured moose, bears, porcupines, squirrels, mountain lions, deer, coyotes, and other critters.The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and Utah State University have been monitoring the overpass throughout the year.The overpass opened in December 2018. UDOT says it spans six lanes of interstate and was constructed to improve safety on I-80 by reducing wildlife and vehicle collisions.UDOT coordinated with UDWR on the wildlife issues specific to the project, including wildlife migration patterns.While it may be tempting to visit the bridge in an attempt to spot some critters, UDWR says to keep off the overpass and not disturb the animals. 1154

(KGTV) - Local activists are planning a protest Monday after multiple reports saying fans of San Clemente High School’s football team allegedly shouted racist slurs at students of San Diego’s Lincoln High School at a football game Friday night in Orange County.The NAACP San Diego said that multiple spectators from the home team heckled the Lincoln High players and cheer squad, repeatedly using racial slurs including the "n-word.""Furthermore, cheer squad members were racially harassed in restrooms, again including the 'n-word.' This harassment came not only from high-school-age youth, but also from adult fans,” Clovis Honoré, president of the NAACP San Diego Branch wrote in a letter to San Clemente High School and district officials. “We are shocked and disgusted that such blatant racism would occur in 2019 at an athletic contest for high school students,” said Honoré. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A distraught man driving a van stolen in Sorrento Valley led San Diego police and the California Highway Patrol on a lengthy chase Thursday that ended in Riverside County, authorities said.San Diego Police Department Officer Scott Lockwood said the white van was stolen from the 9400 block of Scranton Road about 10:45 a.m.SDPD officers pursued the stolen vehicle through Mira Mesa, and the CHP took over the chase when the driver got onto northbound Interstate 15. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 17-year-old girl was shot Tuesday morning during an argument inside a Rolando apartment, San Diego police said.Shortly after 12:35 a.m., a security guard reported hearing an argument followed by a gunshot inside of an apartment in the 4700 block of Seminole Drive, near Stanley Avenue off 63rd Street and El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims said.The security guard also reported seeing people run away after the shooting, Heims said. Officers responded to the scene and found that a 17-year-old girl had been shot in the left neck/jaw area.The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, the officer said.A detailed suspect description was not immediately available. 782
