(KGTV) — Chula Vista's annual Starlight Parade and Children's Faire set for this holiday season is being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.While the event is months away, organizers have pulled the plug on this December's event. Instead, the parade will be postponed until Dec. 4, 2021."We are sorry to announce that the Chula Vista Starlight Parade will be postponed until December 2021. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis and after careful consideration of current local and state mandates, we have made this difficult decision," organizers wrote on Facebook. "The safety of our residents, participants, vendors, and employees is most important at this time. Chula Vista, CA (KGTV) - A Chula Vista City Council candidate running for District 4 says she is recovering after testing positive for COVID-19.Andrea Cardenas tells 10News she first started feeling symptoms on March 9th. She had a fever of 102, headaches, nausea and stomach pains. So, she called her doctor then went to seek medical care."When I went to Urgent Care, they asked me a few questions," she said. "They asked me if I had been in contact with someone who had tested positive and at the time I didn't know."She said because she is running for city council, she knew she was around many people on election night, but had no idea if anyone was carrying the coronavirus then."They had me do a chest x-ray where they accessed that I had pneumonia," she explained. "They said we could send you to the emergency room and have you tested but they explained the shortage of tests"She said her doctor explained that they were trying to hold the COVID-19 tests for the more vulnerable populations.Cardenas decided to just go home, self isolate, take the medication for pneumonia and hydrate."We have a social responsibility and a community responsibility to stay home," she said.Soon after, she was made aware that she had in fact been in contact with someone who contracted the coronavirus and she was tested immediately on the 16th.Her positive test results didn't come back until the 26th. "When I did test positive, I got a call from the county where they wanted to know my experience, all the symptoms that I had and where I had been," she said.Cardenas said she was fortunate to let the county officials know she had been home the entire time.She tells 10News has not left her home in 21 days and urges other who feel symptoms to immediately self-isolate and call their doctor."The moment that you feel any symptoms, just act as though you have it because it’s better to be safe than sorry," she said.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most people who have COVID-19 have mild symptoms and can recover at home without medical care.The County of San Diego urges people to call their doctor or 211 if they have symptoms. 2160

CINCINNATI -- A police officer working an off-duty detail at a grocery store used a stun gun on an 11-year-old girl Monday evening.The officer was working a detail at the Kennard Avenue Kroger when his attention was brought to the girl and two others who were involved in shoplifting, Lt. Steve Saunders said. The officer gave the girl several commands to stop, and then deployed the stun gun.Medics at the scene checked on the girl, and later so did staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Saunders said. He said that as far as he knows, the girl doesn't have any health issues as a result of the Taser deployment.Saunders said that a stun gun can be used on anyone between the ages of 7 to 70, according to Cincinnati Police Department procedure.CPD procedures on use of force state, "The TASER may be deployed on a suspect actively resisting arrest when there is probable cause to arrest the suspect, or to defend one’s self or another from active aggression."The procedure also notes that officers should consider the severity of the crime, the level of suspicion with respect to the fleeing suspect, the risk of danger to others and the potential risk of secondary injury to the suspect due to their surroundings before using a stun gun."An individual simply fleeing from an officer, absent additional justification, does not warrant the use of the TASER," CPD procedure states.The girl had a backpack full of items, Saunders said. She was charged with theft and obstruction, and then released to her parents. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A South Bay family who discovered the body of their loved one buried in a backyard in Tijuana tells 10News there's now an arrest warrant for that woman's stepson. Fernanda Gonzalez went missing in Tijuana on February 2nd. Her sister, Erika Gonzalez, tells 10News Tijuana authorities issued the warrant for 20-year-old Aaron Seth Juarez wanted in connection with his stepmom's murder. The family's attorney, Jesus Rodolfo Cruz, tells 10News Fernanda's Jeep Grand Cherokee is still missing. The Jeep has California plates that read 6VXP431. Gonzalez first reported her sister missing in early February and posted on social media asking for help finding her. Gonzalez tells 10News each post had thousands of shares before she got a phone call that changed the course of the search, "somebody call me and said to keep looking for my sister because she was already dead and in the back of her yard".RELATED: Woman discovers her sister's body buried in Tijuana backyardAfter getting two calls saying the same thing, Gonzalez and her father went to Fernanda's home in Tijuana and searched the backyard, eventually finding Fernanda's body buried. CINCINNATI -- Kroger Co. has joined Dick's Sporting Goods and Walmart in tightening its policy on gun sales after a school shooting killed 17 in Parkland, Florida. The Wall Street Journal reports the Cincinnati-based grocery chain will stop selling guns to anybody under 21 at 43 Fred Meyer locations, mostly located in western states."Recent events demonstrate the need for additional action on the part of responsible gun retailers," the company wrote in a statement to CNBC. "We believe these are common sense steps we can take immediately that are in line with our values and our vision." On Wednesday morning, Dick's Sporting Goods, the nation's largest sporting goods retailer, announced it would?stop selling assault-style weapons and raise its minimum age for gun purchases to 21.
