Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, has responded to comments President Donald Trump made at a rally on Tuesday in which he implied that because Omar's is a Somali immigrant that it lessened her status as a lawmaker.Trump made the comments Thursday while attacking the Democratic party's progressive wing, a group that goes by "The Squad.""We're going to win the state of Minnesota because of (Omar), they say," Trump said during a rally in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. "She's telling us how to run our country. How did you do where you came from? How is your country doing?"Omar was born in Somalia, but her family fled the war-torn country when she was a child. She arrived in the United States in the 1990s and her family moved to Minneapolis in 1997. She is a naturalized American citizen.Omar is the first Somali-American representatives in Congress and the first woman of color to represent Minnesota.Omar responded to Trump's comments in a series of tweets on Tuesday night."Firstly, this is my country & I am a member of the House that impeached you. Secondly, I fled civil war when I was 8. An 8-year-old doesn't run a country even though you run our country like one," Omar said. 1191

Reports indicate that Toys R Us could be the next retailer to file for bankruptcy.The Wall Street Journal reports that the toy retailer could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the next few weeks, just a few months out from the crucial holiday season.According to the Journal, the chain's suppliers are hesitant to ship new items before putting money down. The company is facing a debt of billion stemming from a leveraged buyout in 2005.Toys R Us has already received most of its holiday shipments, but could soon be prevented from receiving any additional toys before the shopping season begins.Toys R Us is just one of a number of retailers who have struggled as Americans have started doing more of their shopping online. Restaurants in Los Angeles County will be open for delivery, take-out and drive-thru services only for three weeks beginning Wednesday in the hopes of preventing the spread of COVID-19, according to The Los Angeles Times and KABC-TV.Restaurants, bar, breweries and wineries in LA County had been open with outdoor seating only. However, officials have moved to restrict all in-person dining as cases in the county have spiked in recent weeks — just as they have across the country.Breweries and wineries can continue selling alcohol in a retail setting."To reduce the possibility for crowding and the potential for exposures in settings where people are not wearing their face coverings, restaurants, breweries, wineries and bars will only be able to offer take-out, drive thru, and delivery services," the county's Department of Public Health said in a news release. "Wineries and breweries may continue their retail operations adhering to current protocols. In person dining will not be allowed, at minimum, for the next 3 weeks."The restrictions came after county officials warned that further action would be taken if the county's five-day average of daily cases rose above 4,000 a day. KABC-TV reports that on Sunday, the four-day average sat at 4,097 a day.The restrictions threaten countless restaurant owners in the Los Angeles area, as well as the thousands of people those owners employ. Several restaurant owners told The Los Angeles Times that the restrictions come just as they were expecting a boost in business for the holidays. Protests erupted late Monday on the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, after police fatally shot a student who allegedly had a knife.The violence took place around the time of a planned vigil for the student, Scout Schultz, 21, who was killed Saturday. Video on social media showed a police car in flames.Georgia Tech police urged students to stay inside and lock their doors because of "violent protests on campus."The fatal encounter on Saturday happened after police responded to a 911 call at 11:17 p.m. reporting a suspicious person on campus. The caller said the person -- described as a white male with long blond hair, white T-shirt and blue jeans, possibly intoxicated -- was holding a knife and possibly a gun.The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Schultz made that 911 call. 819

Repealing Obamacare's individual mandate would give GOP lawmakers an additional 8 billion over 10 years to help pay for their proposed tax cuts.The Congressional Budget Office updated its estimate Wednesday in response to lawmakers' interest. Republicans are considering axing the unpopular provision -- which requires nearly all Americans to have coverage or pay a penalty -- though it's not included in the current House tax reform bill.A CBO score published in December found nixing the mandate would save 6 billion over a decade. While the federal government would lose some revenue from the penalty's elimination, it would make up that and more because fewer people would have federally subsidized policies, the CBO says. The agency did not specify why the figure changed in its blog post announcing the deficit reduction number. 848
