EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Sunday after an El Cajon officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a vehicle earlier in December.According to police, Keani Flores, 28, was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the assault on the officer, Nick Cirello.The driver of the vehicle, David Pangilinan was seen in the Oakhurst area by officers,When police tried to conduct a traffic stop, Pangilinan fled the scene and “evaded apprehension,” police said. Flores was reportedly located at a motel nearby. Authorities are still searching for Pangilinan.Officer Cirello was hit by the vehicle on December 14 on the 100 block of West Washington Street after officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle blocking the roadway with the driver and passenger asleep inside the vehicle.When officers tried to wake the pair up, the driver provided identification for someone else before starting the vehicle.When Cirello tried to stop him, he was dragged before being struck by another vehicle traveling past the scene.Cirello was taken to the hospital before being released on December 18. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top expert on infectious diseases, gave a live interview with The Washington Post Monday as cases of COVID-19 are spiking across the country at unprecedented levels.Fauci's interview comes just ahead of Thanksgiving — an event that health experts warn could cause further spread of the virus despite warnings from the CDC against gathering in-person.While Fauci said every family needed to assess their own situation and make their own determination, he recommended that Thanksgiving gatherings should be limited to the members of a single household.He added that if Americans do travel to another home for Thanksgiving, he recommended everyone should wear masks while indoors, except when eating or drinking.In the month of November alone, more than 3 million people across the U.S. are confirmed to have contracted COVID-19. The 3 million cases represent about 25% of all cases the country has seen since the pandemic reached the U.S. in February.The spike in cases has prompted a frightening jump in hospitalizations and deaths linked to the virus. (KGTV) - A 13-year-old girl cried during her testimony Wednesday against the man accused of chasing her with machetes in La Mesa.The preliminary hearing started at the El Cajon Courthouse Wednesday morning for Bernard Graham, accused of the violent confrontation at Fletcher Parkway and Amaya Drive in May.The girl’s mother told 10News her daughter stopped to meet a friend on her way to Parkway Middle School, but noticed a man talking and yelling to himself. The man first threw a closed pocket knife at the girl before pulling machetes out of his pants, Tammy Brown said.According to La Mesa Police, Graham threw knives at the girl and chased her until she ran into a Subway sandwich shop to call 911. She was not hurt.RELATED: Officer-involved shooting reported in La MesaOfficers found Graham on Fletcher Parkway and tried to arrest him. Graham refused to drop the knife, police said, and officers fired at least two shots.Graham suffered a bullet wound to the abdomen and was taken to the hospital.
