SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A piece of Hollywood has made its way to the USS Midway Museum. Thursday crews worked to move a large movie prop onto the deck of the famed vessel: A replica of the TBD Devastator that was used in the movie “Midway." “It’s the only Devastator on display in the world,” says Walt Loftus, Air Wing Director at the USS Midway Museum. “All the rest of them are at the bottom of the ocean.”RELATED: Top Gun 2 plane driven through Coronado streetsThe plane is a replica of the carriers that sailors used at war. The giant plane was a prop used in the upcoming film, starring Woody Harrelson, Luke Evans, and Nick Jonas. It's designed with “big square tubing with foam made into the shape of the devastator,” says Loftus. “But it's the actual size that the Devastator was.”"Midway" follows the story of U.S. Navy sailors and aviators who persevered through the Battle of Midway in 1942. It was only six months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. So basically when these pilots went out, it was more of a suicide mission.”Loftus shares having this plane aboard the Midway is a chance to, “preserve what we have for future generations.” The Midway will be released in theaters Nov. 8 during Veteran’s Day weekend. 1455

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego law student is making parking less expensive downtown. The city approved to lower rates and extend parking hours along Third Avenue and Cedar Street on Thursday. It's no secret downtown parking is tough. "Sometimes it’s just hard to find one," said Oday Yousif. "That’s the problem. It’s never guaranteed."For students at Cal Western Law School, it's not any easier. "8 o'clock in the morning, that’s when the meters start running. That’s when most classes start; they’re already full," said Yousif. There are 26 metered spots on Third Avenue and Cedar Street right next to the school. "My bank statement is just filed 'City of San Diego parking'. .25 an hour for a max of two hours. So, after those two hours, you have to move your car or you’ll get a ticket," said Yousif.He got three tickets in one year. "They’re about 60 to 70 dollars, and then there’s a fee. I've appealed every single one I've got."Yousif wrote an email to the city to try to fix the situation. He worked on a resolution with the Downtown Parking Management Group for ten months. They proposed lowering the rate to 50 cents per hour for up to four hours of parking. "Giving us 50 cents an hour is not only beneficial to help students, but doing it at four hours is the perfect combination to help students who are just trying to have an ideal parking scenario," said Yousif. That proposal was approved unanimously by the City Transportation Engineering Division on Thursday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A nursing assistant at a Rancho Bernardo senior care facility is battling for her life, diagnosed with COVID-19. In terms of coronavirus, Villa Rancho Bernardo care center is among the hardest-hit senior care facilities in the county.In early May, Lani says her sister, Irene Branch, a longtime nursing assistant there, told her about all the sick calls, and repeated her insistence to keep working."She always has a big heart. If they are short, she always go to work," said Lani.Around the same time, Branch started to feel sick."Coughing a little bit, no appetite and a short fever," said Lani.Her symptoms quickly got worse and a few days later, Lani got a frightening call from her sister. "She had shortness of breath, so I told her to call 911," said Lani.She did, and a day later in the ICU, Branch was on a ventilator. She received donated plasma containing COVID-19 antibodies, but her condition has deteriorated. Kidney failure has led to ongoing dialysis."I pray. Our family is praying a lot. Every one is praying for her," said Lani.Lani says doctors recently removed her from a medically induced coma, but she remains comatose. "She can't wake up. That's the problem. She's not waking up ... It's hard. I can't accept it right now," said Lani.Unable to visit her sister because of COVID-19 restrictions, Lani recently talked to Branch via Facetime while a hospital worker held up a phone."Telling her we are here to support her. Letting her know we are not abandoning her ... I am very hopeful. I will not give up," said Lani. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A jury Tuesday found a man guilty of beating and raping two women on consecutive days in 2016. Jeremiah Ira Williams, 26, was found guilty on multiple charges Tuesday, including forcible rape and false imprisonment. Williams now faces 100 years to life in prison. His sentencing will be on May 30. A prosecutor Monday urged the jury to convict Williams, who is accused of choking and raping two women in different parts of San Diego on consecutive days in 2016.A defense attorney argued that police infused suspicions from the second case into the initial attack and mishandled evidence.Williams is charged with 13 counts including forcible rape, false imprisonment, sodomy and making a criminal threat.Earlier in the trial, Williams was removed from the courtroom for being disruptive and was not present Tuesday as attorneys presented their final arguments.Deputy District Attorney Trisha Amador told jurors that Williams followed Jane Doe #1 from a parking structure to her University City apartment on August 13.With her keys in the door, she was knocked down, robbed at gunpoint and choked to a point where she thought she was going to die, the prosecutor said.After being taken inside the apartment, Williams beat and raped her, Amador argued. The next day, Williams beat and raped a woman working as a prostitute after meeting her in a motel in Grantville, Amador said.Jane Doe #2 was reportedly so terrified that she broke a window and jumped through it to get away.Deputy Public Defender Thomas Bahr told the jury that a detective had a feeling the two sexual assaults may be connected and jumped to conclusions in an attempt to solve the first attack.Bahr also told the jury that Jane Doe #2 lied throughout the investigation and said her story contained inconsistencies.Bahr said Jane Doe #1 was a “true victim,” yet she couldn’t assist police in making a composite sketch of her attacker. 1943

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who was ambushed and shot eight times by two gunmen early Sunday morning suffered non-life-threatening injuries, a San Diego Police Department officer said.The shooting happened at around 12:20 a.m. at 4700 Uvas St. in the Chollas View neighborhood between 47th and Market streets in San Diego.A 27-year-old male victim was standing on the sidewalk when a white sedan pulled up, said SDPD officer Robert Heims. Two Hispanic males got out of the vehicle and fired several rounds at the victim, striking him eight times. The suspects got back in the car and fled northbound 4700 Uvas St., said Heims.The victim was transported to the hospital and with non-life-threatening injuries. No other information about the victim or his injuries was released at time.The suspects were described as Hispanic males wearing black plaid shirts. SDPD Southeastern Division Detectives are investigating. 921
