PRETORIA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin on Tuesday discussed with South African President Jacob Zuma on seeking stronger bilateral relations and coordinating the two countries' stances on climate change.Jia first extended the warm greetings and good wishes of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Zuma, who in return conveyed his greetings to Hu. Hu and Zuma have met several times on the sidelines of the international summits since Zuma took presidency last May.Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top advisory body, was making the visit at the invitation of the National Council of Provinces of South Africa. BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Li Changchun, a leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC), watched Friday evening an opera of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) which was adapted from the Chinese classic A Dream of Red Mansions.The DPRK Phibada Opera Troupe staged in Beijing the adaptation of the masterpiece by Cao Xueqin, a novelist in the 18th century. BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Tao Dayong, a well-known Chinese economist and also honorary vice chairman of the ninth Central Committee of China Democratic League (CDL), has died of illness at the age of 93.President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and other senior leaders, including Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Zhou Yongkang, expressed their condolences.Tao, a native of Shanghai, graduated in 1940 from the Department of Economics of the Nanjing-based Central University.He joined the China Democratic League in 1947 and became chief editor of the Economic Weekly, a magazine published by the Hong Kong-based Chinese language newspaper Wen Wei Po in 1949.Tao was a member of the sixth, seventh, and eighth National People's Congress Standing Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
