He hasn’t shown signs of the virus, but with two cases now confirmed among evacuees at Miramar, his wife in Omaha is a little worried on his behalf.“Even when you’re trying to keep a positive attitude, which he has done, there’s still going to be those days when you’re second guessing, “Could I be that person that comes down with that horrible thing next?” Fauniel Wasserburger said.The evacuees are allowed to mingle with each other in quarantine, although they’re supposed to stay six feet apart. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Images of burning homes, helicopters and flames are now a regular occurrence in California.This summer, that wildfire threat became real for the Del Cerro community.“We could hear the exploding palm trees, we could smell the toxic, frightening smoke," remembers Glenn Thomas, Vice Chair of Friends of Del Cerro.The group wanted to do something to pay back firefighters for all they do for the community. They wanted to know what the department needs to help firefighters do their job better. “We believe you find out what people want and you give it to them!” said Thomas.Friends of Del Cerro teamed up with the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation to make something happen.What the department needs, Thomas learned, is more wildland firefighting hand tools. While many runners support the decision to cancel the San Diego Half Marathon, they're upset that it doesn't appear there will be any refunds.Organizers sent 10News a statement that reads in part, "By their very nature, the cost of events like ours are front loaded and [non-recoupable], which is why we do not have a refund or deferral policy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mesa Biotech, based in San Diego, has received FDA approval for its rapid COVID-19 tests that can produce results in about half-an-hour.“Our first kits are going out today to some of the health systems, county health departments, to validate the performance against the existing testing,” said Laura Dullanty, a marketing manager at Mesa Biotech. She said it will still take a few weeks before they will be able to deploy them widely to the health care providers who have requested the tests. Even that's been a challenge to plan that,” said Dullanty. “We’re staggering shifts, taking time in between, cleaning the area well.” Right now, most tests are performed on-site then sent to a lab for processing. It can take several days or longer before a patient knows the results. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Mayor Kevin Faulconer condemned Governor Gavin Newsom’s amendment to the California sex offender law in a tweet Saturday morning.The mayor said he is “appalled” by the changes, which give judges discretion on whether or not to list someone as a sex offender for having oral or anal sex with a minor, the Associated Press reported.“As a parent I’m appalled that last night our governor signed a law maintaining a 24-year-old can have sex with a 14-year-old and it not be considered predatory,” Faulconer said.RELATED: California governor signs bill changing sex offender law“An adult who commits ANY sex act on a minor 10 years younger must be registered a sex offender.
