(KGTV) — One man was killed in a shooting involving a Border Patrol officer Friday near the Las Americas Premium Outlets.Just before 6 p.m., a Border Patrol agent assigned to the San Diego Sector shot an unidentified 30-year-old man in the area of Dairy Mart Rd. and Camino De La Plaza, close to the international border, according to Aaron Heitke, Chief Patrol Agent with United States Border Patrol in San Diego.Heitke said the man was illegally trying to enter the U.S. west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.During the arrest, an altercation between the man and agent began, during which the agent fired his service weapon, striking the man in the torso, according to Heitke. The details surrounding what led to the fight haven’t been released at this time.The agent received minor injuries, according to San Diego Police. That agent is not being identified at this time, police added.At about 6:25 p.m., first responders pronounced the man dead, Heitke added. The victim has been identified but his name was not released. He was described as an adult Mexican national.SDPD officers were also called to the scene. The Seattle Times reports Southall Environmental Associates scientist John Durban and marine mammal research director for the nonprofit SR3 Holly Fearnbach recently finished recording drone images of the endangered southern residents and discovered pregnancies amid the J, K, and L pods. According to SR3, whale pregnancies typically last 17-18 months.Pregnancies are not unusual but Tahlequah's pregnancy carries special meaning for a region that grieved the death of her calf along with her. But supervisors voted to exclude marijuana after cannabis activists said the law would take away their only legal place to smoke. “Unlike tobacco smokers who could still leave their apartments to step out to the curb or smoke in other permitted outdoor smoking areas, cannabis users would have no such legal alternatives,” said Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, who wrote the amendment to exempt cannabis.It’s illegal under state law to smoke cannabis in public places.San Francisco now joins 63 California cities and counties with such a ban.The ordinance must pass a second vote of the board next week and the mayor must sign it. (KGTV) — Deputies are searching for a man who attempted to lure a child into his vehicle this week.A driver pulled alongside a nine-year-old girl riding her bike in the 8000 block of Poplin Dr. in Santee at about 6 p.m. Thursday and asked her if she would like a ride to a "game," San Diego Sheriff's Department says.The girl became scared and rode her bicycle back to her house. She was not injured, according to deputies. The suspect was described as a Caucasian male, about 60- to 70-years-old, with white hair, and wearing a red hat and chrome sunglasses. His vehicle was described as a 2-door, silver convertible with a black top, possibly a Honda.
