ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — At least seven people were killed and several others injured in a fiery crash on Interstate 75 near Gainesville on Thursday.According to Alachua County Fire Rescue, the crash occurred at 3:42 p.m. on I-75 near mile marker 393 north of Northwest 39th Avenue. Florida Highway Patrol says that the crash involved two tractor-trailers, a passenger van and a mid-size four-door sedan. The two tractor-trailers were close together and caught on fire. The passenger van was also involved in the fire.Six fatalities were initially reported on scene, one additional fatality was reported by 8 p.m. Thursday. Additionally, at least seven patients were transported to area hospitals from the scene, multiple patients with critical injuries. The fire was put out around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. Fire officials say that 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled as a result of the crash.ACFR's UAV team and ASO's AIR 1 helicopter responded to the scene to help with locating possible patients that may have been ejected during the crash. Southbound I-75 was shut down in the area for extensive periods on Thursday, and could remained closed through the morning commute on Friday. There is a significant amount of damage to the road due to the fire. The road will be closed for several more hours. All northbound lanes of I-75 reopened at 8 p.m. Thursday.The UF Health emergency response mass casualty plan was activated at approximately 4:25 p.m. due to the accident. A Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, neighborhood had plenty to talk about Monday morning!A large gator was found in a swimming pool at a home in the Marlwood Estates community on Graemoor Terrace, and had to be removed.Video from a neighbor shows a trapper hauling the huge reptile out of the pool and dragging it across the lawn.It's unclear how the gator got into the fenced yard, or how big it is.Vanessa Schultz said she was walking her kids to the bus stop around 7:15 a.m. Monday when she was told a large alligator was in her neighbor's pool. "It was big, really big," said Schultz, who captured images of the alligator. "I was totally in panic. When I saw the alligator I was scared."Schultz said she’s lived in Marlwood Estates for three years and has only seen a gator there once before. She said the an alligator was spotted in a lake last year behind her property.Schultz, a mother of three, thinks the gator in the pool was likely 9 feet long and over 300 pounds."It totally concerns me. So now I’m scared and I don’t want to leave my kids outside playing in the backyard," said Schultz. A woman and three children were found dead near the Mexico-Texas border, according to Hidalgo County, Texas Sheriff Eddie Guerra.Guerra said in a tweet that two infants, a toddler and a 20-year-old woman were found dead by border patrol agents near the Rio Grande River, southeast of the Anzalduas Park Sunday night.The bodies were found in Las Paloma Wildlife Management Area in the southeast corner of the state, the sheriff said.The FBI will take the lead on the investigation because the bodies were found on federal land.Agents from the FBI are on scene investigating with the aid of local authorities.Special Agent Michelle Lee with the San Antonio FBI told CNN, "it's an incredibly heart breaking situation, which seems to happen far too often." 764
