The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals provided tips on Tuesday on how to keep animals safe and healthy as the country deals with the spread of coronavirus. Here are the tips provided by ASPCA: Wash Your HandsAlthough there is no current evidence that suggests the coronavirus can be transmitted to or from companion animals, it's always a good idea to follow basic hygiene practices around animals. This includes washing your hands thoroughly throughout the day and before and after direct contact with your pets, their food or their supplies.Play it SafeWhile there have not been any reports of companion animals becoming sick from the virus, it is still recommended that people who are sick with COVID-19 limit contact with companion animals until more information is available. If you are sick or under medical attention for COVID-19, you should avoid close contact with your pets and have another member of your household care for your animals. If you must look after your pet, you should maintain good hygiene practices and wear a face mask, if possible.Stock Up on Pet SuppliesPrepare a kit with essential supplies to have on hand in the event of an emergency. Your emergency kit should include a 30-day supply of your pets' medications, as well as at least two weeks' worth of food and other supplies, like litter. Make sure all pets wear collars and tags with up-to-date identification information. Your pet's ID tag should contain his name, telephone number and any urgent medical needs. Be sure to also write your pet's name, your name and contact information on your pet's carrier.Designate an Emergency CaregiverProactively identify someone who could help with their short- or long-term care in the event you are unable to care for your pets. Consider a family member, friend, neighbor or a boarding facility.Create a Pet DossierIf your emergency caregiver's assistance is needed, make it easier for them by having all of your pets' information in one place. Consider including things like habits, food preferences, medical conditions and medications taken, veterinarian contact information, medical and vaccination records, and any behavioral tendencies. 2203

The New South Wales government in Australia is now using cameras installed on roads to catch drivers illegally using the phone. Now, there's one state in the U.S. that's trying to make that happen here. There's a councilmember in Montgomery County, Maryland, that wants permission from the state to install these cameras. You can really see everything that's happening in the front seats of cars with these cameras — and that brings up some concerns from groups like the ACLU."One issue is that there will be false positives, there will be photographs where it looks like the person is using their cellphone or on the phone when they're actually not," says Jay Stanley, a senior policy analyst with the ACLU. "So everybody will be susceptible to that, there will be ambiguous photographs that police officers will have to look at and decide whether to issue a ticket."AAA also brings up a concern over children in the car being photographed and adds there may also be problems surrounding artificial intelligence. With these cameras, it's up to the computer to decipher if a driver is using their phone and that could lead to problems in places where phones are allowed to be used for GPS purposes but not texting or phone calls.AAA says there are other options. They suggest that places like Maryland stick to enforcement that has been successful in the past."But people, when they are distracted, it's as easy to discern as a person who's driving impaired because they have the same type of driving behavior," says John Townsend with AAA. "And when it comes to distracted driving, the person's eyes are not on the roadway. You can easily detect that."As for the county in Maryland, the council will begin debating the use of cameras in January and, if passed, it'll be the first program of its kind in the United States. 1837

That had to hurt. Security cam footage captured a burglar crashing through the ceiling of a Venutra County, California, restaurant on Oct. 31. The woman is seen hitting her head on metal kitchen equipment. She was slow to get up, but eventually continued with the burglary, along with a male accomplice. The video was released by the county's sheriff's office earlier this week in hopes of finding the pair of burglars. The woman who crashed through the ceiling is described as a white or Hispanic female, approximately 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8 in height, 110-130 pounds, 18-25 years old, with bleached blonde colored hair and dark colored roots.A male suspect also seen in the video is described as a white male, approximately 5-feet-8 to 6-feet in height, 160-190 pounds, 20-25 years old with short brown or dark colored hair. The sheriff's office said several hundred dollars and numerous bottles of wine were stolen from the business. 946

The Hubble Telescope can sure find some scary images of deep space in a video released by NASA on Monday. The images were of the twin galaxies AM 2026-424, which is a mere 724 million light-years away from Earth. That means the light we are seeing on Earth was emitted 724 million years ago. From Earth, the colliding galaxies appear to form the shape of a face, with two "eyes," which make up the core of the galaxies."Each 'eye' is the bright core of a galaxy, one of which slammed into another. The outline of the face is a ring of young blue stars. Other clumps of new stars form a nose and mouth," NASA said in a statement.""Although galaxy collisions are common—especially back in the young universe—most of them are not head-on smashups, like the collision that likely created this Arp-Madore system," NASA added. "The violent encounter gives the system an arresting 'ring' structure for only a short amount of time, about 100 million years. The crash pulled and stretched the galaxies' disks of gas, dust, and stars outward. This action formed the ring of intense star formation that shapes the nose and face." 1129
