RANCHO BERNARDO (KGTV) - A 54-year-old man was pinned between two cars when he was rear-ended by a teen later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The victim was towing his Nissan Sentra in a BMW when he stopped check the tow straps in the 14900 block of Camino Del Norte in Rancho Bernardo around 9 p.m. Saturday. Related: Valley Center wrong-way head-on crash As he stood between the two vehicles a 16-year-old boy in a 2000 Nissan Xterra rear-ended the vehicles and pinned him between both the BMW and Nissan Sentra.According to Officer Robert Heims, the force of the collision broke both of the man's legs. President-elect Joe Biden pleaded with Americans to adopt public health best practices during the Thanksgiving holiday in the hopes of preventing the spread of COVID-19.Biden called for unity among Americans in attempting to snuff out the spread of the virus."We're at war with the virus. Renowned Tulsa saxophonist and Race Massacre survivor, Hal Singer, has passed away, just a few months shy of his 101st birthday.The French city of Chatou announced the news of his death. Singer resided in the town for more than 20 years."Weakened in recent years, Hal Singer has passed out peacefully surrounded by his wife and family," the release stated.Singer, who was born in Tulsa on Oct. 8, 1919, would go on to have an "exceptional 70-year career, from Duke Ellington to Ray Charles, to Billie Holiday," the release said.According to the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame website, Singer topped the R&B charts in Sept. 1948 with his instrumental recording "Corn Bread.""The City just lost a friend, an artist, and a great man," the release concluded. President Donald Trump was removed from his evening coronavirus news conference on Monday after a shooting took place outside of the White House complex, Trump confirmed to reporters. Minutes into his briefing, Trump was told to leave his briefing by a Secret Service agent. Trump said he was not taken to the bunker, and just stepped outside of the briefing room.Trump said that a suspect was shot by law enforcement outside of the White House. Trump complimented authorities for handling the incident. The Secret Service confirmed an officer-involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington. The intersection is roughly one block from the White House, and not far from the West Wing section of the White House, where the White House briefing room is located.The Secret Service said that a male subject and a Secret Service officer were both transported to a local hospital. "At no time during this incident was the White House complex breached or were any protectees in danger," the Secret Service said.The Secret Service issued a statement late Monday indicating that a 51-year-old man told Secret Service officers he had a weapon. 1163
