SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For the entire month of October, all kids 11-years-old or younger can visit the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park for free.The zoo is offering free entry from Oct. 1 to 31, adding that surprise activities will also be scheduled through the weekends. The offer is valid for one paying adult and up to 5 children (ages 11 and younger).Both zoos will require that all visitors continue wearing facial coverings and cooperate with regulations around the coronavirus pandemic. The zoos have been operating at limited capacity and some experiences are still closed during the partial reopening.Throughout October, the zoos will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect of a College Area bank robbery Wednesday.The suspect walked into Citibank at 5998 El Cajon Blvd. just after 3 p.m., approached a teller, and verbally demanded cash, according to the FBI.After receiving a sum of cash, the suspect fled on foot.The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s to early 30s, with large build and standing about 5-foot 6-inches. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, sunglasses, gloves, tennis shoes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Eateries in Ocean Beach say Memorial Day weekend is getting them back on top after a slow winter.A couple factors in play, nearly back to back storms and the closed pier. "Our numbers are still way above normal so we'll take it," South Beach Bar & Grille Bartender Philip Cullin said Friday and Saturday were great for business.Next door at Lighthouse Ice Cream, those sentiments were echoed.Sunday was a different story, clouds loomed overhead with sprinkles and rain in the evening, dampening the influx of customers. "It's really cold, there's not that many people out," 14-year-old birthday girl Bella said. She came out with friends and family to celebrate.Businesses thankful to see those customers, saying it's been tough through the slow winter months.Inside the bar, Cullin said they saw lots of business Sunday, "it comes in waves, you'll get like a mad lunch rush, everybody bombs in at the same time to get their fish tacos, and then they clear out mid afternoon and your locals come in."With the pier open, they're seeing even more people, "this area gets way more congested when people are chilling at the pier," Cullin said."I found out Thursday night the pier was opening on Friday and I knew I had to get here early and start making waffle cones, it was a busy day for us, we couldn't even find parking in the morning," Lighthouse Ice Cream Manager Robbie Valdivia said.They're hopeful Memorial Day will bring sunshine and another wave of customers."We actually had them for about two weeks now, a lot of tourists here from out of town, out of state, so it's been really really nice," Valdivia said, knowing it's the unofficial start of summer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Francis Parker School officials say a vendor that handles some of the school's backup data was victim of a ransomware attack in May. The school says third-party cloud computing provider, Blackbaud, Inc., notified them on July 16 of the cyberattack. Criminals demanded payment in return for destroying information they copied from Blackbaud's database, the school said.School officials warned parents that the compromised database may have included contact information, birth dates, and a history of relationships with the school, including donation dates and amounts. The school said the attackers did not access credit card information, social security, or other personal financial information and had no access to the school's systems.Blackbaud paid the ransomware and says based on the nature of the incident and investigations with law enforcement, there's no reason to believe any data went beyond the cybercriminals or was, or will be, misused.Francis Parker officials said they are reevaluating their relationship with Blackbaud. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — From California to Maine, breweries across the country are stepping up to help California fire victims.The effort started with the Sierra Nevada brewery. While their facility was spared by the Camp Fire, communities around it were devastated.Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman reached out to fellow brewers to join him in the disaster relief effort, making their ‘Resilience Butte County Proud IPA’ recipe available to those who want to help. The brewery is asking that 100 percent of profits go to fire relief efforts. So far over 1,200 breweries have pledged to make and sell the beer.“I’ve never seen anything on this scale,” said Jim Millea, brewmaster at OB Brewery. “That’s a lot of beer being made for a good cause, it’s pretty sweet!”Millea says he didn’t hesitate to join the effort.“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a good cause?” said Millea. He’s one of many in the San Diego region who will be brewing Resilience IPA. Millea hopes to have his on tap at the OB Brewery in a few weeks.
