LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 810

LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- Video showed the horrifying moments a coyote crept up to a family and attacked a small child at California State University Los Angeles.Police say the coyote bit the 5-year-old on the leg just before 6:30 p.m., in the 5100 block of University Drive, according to the CSULA.Campus police responded to the incident and began searching the area for the animal. During their search, officers heard a female student scream and found the coyote approaching the student "in an aggressive manner," police said.Officers found the animal and at least one officer opened fire and wounded the coyote, according to the campus.The animal ran off after it was shot. At this time there are no updates on the condition of the child. Los Angeles Department of Public Safety officers are actively searching for the coyote. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell and the city's Bureau of Sanitation will remind all restaurant managers that starting Tuesday they will be required to withhold plastic straws unless a customer requests them. ``The new city law picks up where the state law stops,'' O'Farrell said in April. ``As a coastal city and state, we owe it to our environment to do everything in our power to ensure we reduce single-use plastic waste.'' The first phase of O'Farrell's ``Straws on Request'' initiative took effect this year on Earth Day, which applied to businesses with more than 26 employees. The new law takes aim at reducing single-use plastic waste from littering beaches and waterways, O'Farrell said, and it applies to restaurants of all sizes.
