The sheriff also told the press that Paddock lost a lot of money in the past year and that could have been part of the motive for what he did. The sheriff also admitted that although the shooting did not meet the federal definition of terrorism, he personally considers it an act of terrorism. Lombardo also said that there is no evidence of other gunmen and they do not expect to arrest anyone else.In addition, the sheriff admitted that the missing hard drive has not been located and that it was common practice for Paddock to remove and hide hard drives.When asked if something like this could happen again, the sheriff admitted that it could. He also talked about what they have done since the mass shooting to prevent such an event. Latinos make up a third of eligible voters going into the 2020 Presidential Election. A recent Pew Research study lists the Supreme Court as one of Latino voters’ top concerns.Christine Rodriguez, a Latina attorney set to be sworn into the Supreme Court Bar in January, says the concern comes from the lack representation. Rodriguez recalls dreaming of becoming an attorney as a 9-year-old girl but not having anyone to mentor her.“No one I knew was an attorney,” said Rodriguez.It wasn’t until her senior year of high school, during an educational trip to Washington, D.C., that she found her inspiration.“I was like, ‘Oh yeah! This is it! This is what I want to do,’” said Rodriguez of the moment she was able to observe Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the rest of the Supreme Court Justices as they heard a case.Rodriguez even kept the notes she took while observing. Near Justice Antonin Scalia’s name, she wrote a note describing him as talkative and funny. Next to Ginsburg’s name, Rodriguez wrote, “smart and serious.”Twenty years after this experience, Rodriguez is months away from getting sworn into the Supreme Court Bar, allowing her to argue cases before the Supreme Court. During that ceremony, she was set to meet Ginsburg.“I wanted to thank her for her tireless work as an attorney and as a woman and pioneer in this field,” said Rodriguez.As a Latina, Rodriguez says she has some concerns over some key decisions the Supreme Court will make in the coming term and who will be a part of the decision making process. The Latino vote has never been as powerful as it is now. According to a Pew Research study, there are 32 million eligible Latino voters.Mari Carmen Puente Castallano is one of them.“I don’t care what side you vote, but vote. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A developer in La Mesa says multi-generational homes could be the key to helping solve San Diego's housing crisis.The Phair Company has plans to build 30 such homes on a 10-acre patch of land near Eastridge Drive. The development is called "La Mesa Summit Estates."The homes will feature an extra master-suite, with a bathroom, kitchenette and separate entry. Families with aging parents or adult children who live at home can use that suite to give them independence, while still keeping the family together."We heard from the community that they wanted to have this," says Austin Dias, one of the partners in the company.The Phair Company did four community meetings to help plan the development. The idea for multi-generational homes came from people who attended. They also heard that people wanted one-story homes to avoid going up and down stairs.After the meetings, the company changed their plans, downsizing the community from 39 to 30 homes and adjusting the floor plans. Now, the development will have 22 single story homes, and eight two-story homes. They range from 2,300 to 3,000 square feet."I love it," says Dr. Karen Childress-Evans, who lives across the street from the land. "It's very conscientious to how society is growing right now. Kids are moving back home, we're taking care of our parents. This is a safe alternative to sending them off someplace else."The company also thinks the cost savings will help in today's housing market."This is just part of what needs to happen in San Diego," says Dias. "It just makes sense to keep families together. "The company has an interest list of around 80 potential buyers. They expect it to grow as word gets out about the project.Dias told 10News he's heard of other companies doing a few multi-generational houses in larger developments, but this is the only one he knows of where every home is built with the extra suite.The project still needs approval from the La Mesa Planning Commission, and then the City Council. Dias says he's hopeful that will happen this summer, so they can break ground and start construction in the fall. He's hopeful that the homes will be ready by this time next year. LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Extreme heat remains a top concern for the Southern Nevada Health District. With more than 100 heat-related deaths reported last year, volunteers and health coordinators spent Friday and Saturday surveying Clark County residents on how they were affected by the summer heat.The efforts are part of a Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response technique.Jeff Quin, the senior public health preparedness planner at SNHD, says heat exhaustion remains a priority. "We had 123 deaths in 2017 that were heat related and 40 percent of those occurred during the month of July," he said. The summer's sweltering temperatures affect those at home and on the streets. "It's not unique to anyone. Our access and function need population which includes the homeless is a high concern but also children, and our senior Americans," said Quinn.Volunteers Jorge and Rebecca are out surveying the southeast side of Las Vegas. They are hoping residents will fill out a 21-question survey."Mostly we are asking some basic information: do they have water and food for at least three days, where they would go for a cooling station," said Rebecca. "Then we are going to get the results and it's going to inform everybody in the community," said Jorge.Clark County resident Timothy Martin was once vulnerable to the valley's hot weather."After I had that heatstroke, [the doctor] told me, I can't go out, ‘you're going to get nauseous and dizzy,’ and I do.
