"Strong leads" are being pursued to catch two men believed to be responsible for multiple fatal shootings across the Nashville area, police said. At this point, Metro Nashville Police said they are connecting three, different shootings with four victims – three of whom have died. The police department tweeted Monday morning that Chief Steve Anderson met with detectives in the case and said strong leads are being pursued. The first incident happened back on Aug. 8 in the Inglewood area when a 39-year-old woman was shot while walking her dog just before 1 a.m. She survived but police have confirmed the shooting left her paralyzed.Less than a week later, investigators said 31-year-old Kendall Rice was walking to work when he was robbed and fatally shot on Alta Loma Road in Madison. Kendall RiceThe third shooting linked to the spree happened around 3:30 a.m. Friday in East Nashville outside of The Cobra Nashville, a local bar.  Four people were heading to get a snack at a convenience store when they were robbed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Wednesday night after police say she hit her neighbor with her SUV in Chollas View.According to police, the incident happened on the 200 block of 47th Street near the 47th Street Trolley Station around 2 p.m. Police say the victim, only described as a 50-year-old white man, saw a woman, later identified as Tantrina Spencer-Simmons, 24, beating her 8-year-old sister with a belt. According to police, the victim confronted Simmons about the beating when she put her younger sister into a white Mitsubishi SUV. While the victim stood in the parking lot calling police, authorities say Simmons stepped on the gas and “intentionally ran over the male victim.”Simmons then fled the scene. Police say the victim sustained severe and life-threatening injuries. Police were able to locate and arrest Simmons on the 4500 block of Market Street around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. 915

The boys came home about 12:30 a.m. and checked in with their mom, who had been waiting up.The next morning, as Savage was picking up laundry in Jack's room, she noticed that he wasn't stirring as she tried to wake him."He was unresponsive. I called 911, and I remember hollering for Nick, for him to come up, and how he never came."Nick, her eldest son, was downstairs sleeping in the basement with friends.The first responders arrived and tried to resuscitate Jack, and then Savage noticed one of them going downstairs to the basement. 836

An Associated Press analysis of state purchasing data during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic found that states canceled billions of dollars in PPE orders. Many of the cancellations occurred when businesses couldn't get the products to states under tight deadlines or when prices rose. In some cases, suppliers already had paid to manufacture the goods before the deals got canceled. The most commonly canceled order was for N95 masks, which were particularly hard to get. 619

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was injured in a machete attack in San Diego’s Talmadge neighborhood Thursday night, San Diego Police say. According to police, the incident happened just before 7 p.m. on the 4800 block of of El Cajon Boulevard.Police say the suspect walked up to the victim, who was sitting in his car, and attacked him with the machete. RELATED: Video shows machete attack in EscondidoPolice say the suspect shattered the vehicle’s windows with his machete. The victim got out of the car and ran off. But the suspect threw the weapon at the victim. The blade hit the victim in the back as the suspect then ran away.The victim received a a 3-inch cut on the ride side of his back, and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
