The central government team, led by Vice Premier Sun Chunlan, visited the Tongji Hospital based in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. At a remote consultation center, the team held discussions with experts from Beijing, Shanghai and the military to assist Wuhan with the epidemic control.

This is the first of two laboratories to be installed by the Chinese BGI group in Serbia. The project is worth over 700,000 euros (760.700 U.S. dollars), of which around 570,000 euros are to be donated by Chinese companies.

The week-long training will mainly focus on staff from local disease prevention and control centers, hospitals and health centers, according to the National Health Commission and the provincial COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters, which jointly launched the training.

While maintaining epidemic control as a regular practice, primary-level medical institutions have been providing services including daily diagnosis and treatment, chronic disease management and health guidance, said Gao Guangming, an official with the National Health Commission, at a press conference.

Wang said the pandemic is a global challenge that needs joint response from the international society. As a responsible country, China has been sharing information with other countries and carrying out international cooperation in an open and transparent manner from the outset, he said.
