There's something different about this year's Geneva Motor Show: The "booth babes" are almost all gone. For decades, automakers have paid glamorous and often scantily clad female models to appear at major auto shows and pose for photos next to their new cars. But the practice is quickly being abandoned in the era of #MeToo, with carmakers now choosing other ways to attract a crowd at motor shows. 411

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering up several tips to help travelers avoid a nightmare at the security checkpoint during the week of Halloween at the airport.TSA said when it comes to masks, they ask that you refrain from wearing a Halloween mask until after you made it through the checkpoint screening. They ask that you wear a face-covering that's used to help stop the spread of COVID-19. TSA officers will ask you to remove your mask, temporarily, just so they can verify your identity at the travel document checking podium. When it comes to wearing a costume, TSA recommends you wear it after you go through the checkpoint because it could trigger an alarm, which would lead to you getting patted down.TSA also recommends that you put "realistic replica props" like pitchforks, chainsaws, brooms, or axes in your checked bag. They added that if you do put weapon-like props, like a bomb or grenade, into either your checked bag or carry-on, you run the risk of slowing down checkpoint until it's proven they are in fact fake or your checked bag not making it onto your flight. For the final tip, TSA said you are fine packing as much candy or treats you want in your checked bag or carry-on.To see what you can or cannot put in your checked bag or carry-on, you can get more answers on the TSA app to access their "Can I Bring?" feature to find out if it's something you should pack or not. 1425
This week, more than 150 people, including author J.K. Rowling and other academics, journalists and writers, signed on to an open letter published in Harper’s Magazine calling for an end to the so-called cancel culture. The piece, “A Letter on Justice and Open Debate” argues that being quick to cancel someone or something could lead to a silencing of viewpoints and less reforms.“The free exchange of information and ideas, the lifeblood of a liberal society, is daily becoming more constricted. While we have come to expect this on the radical right, censoriousness is also spreading more widely in our culture: an intolerance of opposing views, a vogue for public shaming and ostracism, and the tendency to dissolve complex policy issues in a blinding moral certainty,” the letter reads. The letter is in response to a growing trend of canceling people and entities over past or present statements. What is cancel culture? It refers to removing support for a public figure or leader in response to that person’s objectionable behavior or opinions. Removing support can include boycotts, canceling appearances or performances, refusing to promote that person’s work, etc.The phrase cancel culture has come into being the last few years to talk about actions being taken during movements like #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter and other social justice conversations that are demanding greater accountability from public figures and a reckoning with their past comments or behaviors. Examples include big names like Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, and R Kelly.Last month, Ivanka Trump, President Trump’s daughter and presidential advisor, tweeted that she believed a canceling of a commencement speech at a school at Wichita State University was part of a cancel culture. 1767
