A mail carrier in West Virginia has pled guilty to attempted election fraud after trying to change the party affiliation on several ballots from Democrat to Republican.Thomas Cooper, who was charged in May, pled guilty Thursday, attempt to defraud the residents of West Virginia of a fair election and one count of injury to the mail, a statement from the Department of Justice said.Cooper delivered letters to Onego, Riverton, and Franklin, West Virginia, all of which are in Pendleton County.According to a statement back in May, a county clerk found that five ballots' party affiliations had been changed from Democrat to Republican, and three other ballots' request had been altered, but their affiliation had not been changed.Cooper said he made the changes as a joke, the statement in May said. 808

A female shooter and a male employee were shot and killed early Monday at a distribution plant in Texas, a Missouri City spokeswoman said.Officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the Ben E. Keith food distribution plant, Missouri City Police Capt. Paul Poulton said.Another employee was also shot and was transported to a hospital, Poulton said.Officers are still in the process of conducting secondary searches of the facility. A man accused of posing as an attorney in Madison, Tennessee is now facing more charges, according to police documents.Sex crimes detectives have been working for a year to determine if alleged rapist Wayne Willemsen is connected to other sexual assaults. He was just indicted on rape and kidnapping charges stemming from an incident in 2017.Police said he branded himself as an attorney in Madison and used his position to meet his victims. The 43-year-old was accused last March of raping one of his clients. Willemsen was already on the state sex offender registry for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old in Michigan.The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also charged him several months ago with impersonating an attorney.Detectives said aren't done looking into his behavior and urged anyone who may have been victimized by Willemsen to call the Sex Crimes Section at 615-862-7540 or 615-862-8600. Previous Story: 938

A large earthquake has been reported off the southern coast of Alaska Monday afternoon. The United States Geological Survey reports the quake measured 7.5 magnitude. Originally, the organization reported it as 7.4 magnitude. It triggered tsunami warnings along the Alaskan Peninsula coastline, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System. The tsunami warning does not stretch south to Canada or the rest of the US west coast at this time. 449

A Glendale, Arizona mother is speaking out after her daughter’s class was subject to an odd punishment. Brittany Trofy says her 7-year-old daughter and classmates were forced to walk in a circle on the Luke Elementary School playground last week as punishment. It was around noon that day and temperatures were likely in the high 90’s or even warmer.Trofy claims the march lasted anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. She says her daughter told her about the punishment when she came home that day.According to Trofy’s daughter, several kids complained of headaches and cramps. "The school stripped me of my right to nurture my child when she didn't feel good by not letting me know she didn't feel good,” Trofy said. The Dysart Unified School District confirmed to KNXV that they are reviewing the teacher’s actions that day. We’re told that the practice is not “district approved.” However, a spokesperson says it only lasted around five minutes. Students were checked by a school nurse and none displayed any signs of heat exhaustion. The Dysart Unified School District would not elaborate if the teacher would be facing punishment or has a history of questionable decision making. A spokesperson told us they cannot discuss personnel matters. "My daughter is right now scared to go back to school for fear of seeing the teacher that got frustrated with them,” Trofy said. A police officer was informed of the incident.
