The Mountain West Conference became the second conference from college football’s top division to postpone the 2020 football season citing coronavirus concerns on Monday.As part of its announcement, the Mountain West also announced that all fall sports will be postponed.Curt Apsey, the director of athletics at perennial Mountain West power Boise State, supported the decision. "Despite everything that has been thrown in their way over the last several months, our student-athletes, coaches and staff had been preparing for a 2020 season," Apsey said. "They were ready for every possible uncertainty, but in the end, the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes across the conference necessitated today’s announcement."On Saturday, the Mid-American Conference became the first NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision league to postpone the 2020 season. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has named dozens that contain methanol, which can cause blindness or hospitalizations if absorbed through skin.A consumer watchdog tells us these products are not FDA approved. That's because in March, the agency allowed companies that never made hand sanitizer to make it in order to meet demand. They just had to agree to follow the rules.“So, guess what happened? Some of them didn't follow the rules, either intentionally or unintentionally, and so then, they started getting reports from the poison control centers of people getting sick from methanol in hand sanitizer instead of ethanol,” said Teresa Murray with U.S. PIRG.Murray says many of the recalled products have been made in Mexico. But as part of the temporary guidelines, companies don't have to disclose where the sanitizers were manufactured. So, it's hard for consumers to tell which products might be dangerous.Murray says if you can't tell where the product was made, don't buy it and don't use it if it's already in your home. To be safe, stick with brand names you recognize for now.Murray has found most stores and online retailers have pulled products on the FDA list, but you should still be careful depending on where you shop.“I would caution anyone from buying anything that's on an end-cap clearance aisle, or anything that's from a super discount store,” said Murray. “There may be a reason why one of the mainstream retailers is no longer selling it.”Murray says it's always important to keep hand sanitizers out of reach for kids and pets, but now, even more so.If ingested, methanol can cause even more health problems.Click here to learn more from the FDA. 1738

The House has passed a .3 trillion spending package that will increase funding for the military and domestic spending and will keep the government funded through the end of September.The legislation passed with Democrats and Republicans coming together to pass it less than 24 hours after the 2,300-page bill was made public.Now, it's up to the Senate to pass it before the government runs out of money Friday at midnight. The Philadelphia Police Department has released officer-worn body camera footage and 911 calls from an October shooting that led to the death of Walter Wallace, Jr.ABC News reports that the release maks the first time in the department's history that it has released body camera footage.Wallace was shot and killed by police on Oct. 26. Police at the time said they were responding to reports of a man with a weapon and that Wallace did not respond to orders to drop a knife he was holding.According to WPVI-TV, Philadelphia police received three 911 calls regarding the incident. The first came from a neighbor who reported that a fight next door. The other two calls came from family members, who asked for help in dealing with Wallace.Bodycam footage from the incident shows officers Wallace leaving a house and walking toward the street holding a knife. Police repeatedly yelled at Wallace to drop his knife and ask others in the area to back away.Despite repeated warnings to drop his weapon, the video shows Wallace circling a parked car and walking toward officers. Police fired 14 shots toward Wallace, though the department has not confirmed how many of those shots struck Wallace.Wallace was later transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.According to WPVI, officers are the scene were not armed with less-lethal weapons, like stun guns. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said Wednesday that the department has sought funding to equip more officers with stun guns.Wallace's death sparked a few days of protests in Philadelphia.
