"For other entities that have chosen to act irresponsibly, entities in particular like the Awaken Church where we have been forced to have to share outbreak information because of their lack of cooperation and notifying members of their congregation about cases there, we continue to implore the public to recognize the very real danger of indoor religious services."Following the initial announcements of an outbreak, the church continued to hold indoor services. The church has received multiple cease-and-desist orders from the county.The church's website says it has moved Wednesday services in San Diego online through December. Sunday services on the church's website did not appear to be changed. The church also has locations in El Cajon and Carlsbad.Officials advised members of the church to wear face coverings and practice social distancing, and to avoid large gatherings.Generally, the county does not reveal the locations of community outbreaks, which are three or more COVID-19 cases from different households within two weeks at one location. Maruta Gardner was struck and killed by a DUI driver in 2016 while she was removing graffiti. The park in Bonita Cove is being named in her honor and receive a “much-needed makeover” for the playground, city officials say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police have released video footage after officers shot and killed a murder suspect following a standoff on May 29.The 32-year-old suspect who was shot and killed was accused of shooting and killing another man at a City Heights apartment complex.The video shows officer stationed outside the apartment complex. Watch the full video below:According to police, gunfire was reported at the complex on the 3800 block of Euclid Avenue around 3:30 p.m.Officers later found a 62-year-old Hispanic man with at least one gunshot wound. "Specially trained STAR medics deployed with the SWAT team to provide aid, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
