Twitter has suspended far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from its platform for one week.The news was first shared by an InfoWars personality, who tweeted a screenshot of Jones' Twitter account -- indicating the company limited some of Jones' account features temporarily.A Twitter spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the screenshot. The spokesperson said the content which prompted Twitter to suspend Jones was a video published Tuesday in which he said, "now is time to act on the enemy before they do a false flag."On Friday, one day after a CNN investigation found that Jones' Twitter accounts appeared to have repeatedly violated the company's rules, Twitter said the accounts belonging to Jones and his fringe media organization InfoWars would remain online.At the time, a Twitter spokesperson said the company concluded that of the more than a dozen tweets included in CNN's Thursday report, seven were found to have violated Twitter's rules. Twitter would have required those tweets to be deleted, if they were to have remained up.But after CNN's investigation was published, the tweets cited in it were almost immediately deleted from the social media website. Jones said on his program that he had instructed his staff to do so and "take the super high road," though he contested whether the tweets violated any Twitter rules.Twitter is one of the only major social media companies that has not scrubbed its platform of Jones or InfoWars. Recently, Jones has seen the vast majority of the social media infrastructure for his media empire crumble. Tuesday marks the final day for Americans to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.Tuesday marks the last day for open enrollment for the public health insurance commonly referred to as "Obamacare."The COVID-19 pandemic has left millions without a job and more vulnerable to health issues than ever. While many Americans will be without employer-provided healthcare, people in most states are still able to pick a public plan through the Affordable Care Act.According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, 3.8 million Americans have selected a health care plan provided through the Affordable Care Act during the current enrollment period. Between Nov. 29 and Dec. 5 alone, more than 900,000 Americans selected a public health care plan.To sign up for a plan through to the Affordable Care Act, visit HealthCare.gov and click "take the first steps to apply." Upwards of 70 percent of Americans plan to spend this Thanksgiving much differently than they did last year. Most will not be gathering for the holiday and a growing number are opting out of cooking a big turkey dinner this year. Instead, many will be ordering a to-go Thanksgiving meals from one of their local restaurants.That boost is helping restaurants stay busy, much busier than they have been for months.“It feels awesome to come in and do what we do,” said Richard Poggi, a chef and managing partner at the Delaney House restaurant and event venue in Massachusetts.Poggi has spent the past week prepping turkeys after seeing a surge of to-go Thanksgiving meal orders from the restaurant and Delaney’s local markets.“Our country as a whole really, really want to do the right thing and get through this,” said Poggi. “I think people are heeding the warnings and I think people understand what’s going on."Thanks to many people not gathering for the holiday and deciding to order out a Thanksgiving meal for themselves or their immediate family, Delaney’s is on pace to more than double the amount of to-go Thanksgiving dinners it sold last year.On average, it’s getting at least 200 new Thanksgiving to-go orders a day.“We are one of those restaurants that if you came here before the pandemic, you had to wait an hour or hour and a half to get in,” said Delaney’s Owner Peter Rosskothen.Rosskothen added the to-go Thanksgiving order boost comes after the restaurant has dealt with a 75 percent drop in business.“It has been hard to find money for payroll. It is hard to dig into your own reserve when you don’t want to, but you have to, to kind of climb through this,” said Rosskothen.That burden is being relieved for a few weeks now. Two medical facilities have advised the state of Louisiana that they are laying off more than 250 employees because of damage sustained during Hurricane Laura.WARN notices, which are required when a certain number or percentage of employees are to lose their jobs, were sent to the state by the Lake Charles Memorial Health System and Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Lake Charles.LCMHS has laid off 205 employees, and Oceans has laid off about 50, according to their WARN letters to the state."Lake Charles Memorial Health System will experience a reduction in its workforce, and a number of employees of the Moss Memorial Campus, support services and the Archer Campus will experience layoffs, as a result of damage sustained from Hurricane Laura," the September 28 WARN letter states. "It is with regret that I must report to you that the company has decided to reduce its operations at Lake Charles Memorial Health System. As a result, we anticipate that we will permanently lay off approximately 205 employees on today."The company's website indicates that many facilities are now open for business. (AP) — Kanye West's petition to appear on New Jersey's ballot as a presidential candidate fails to pass legal muster because signatures are incomplete, and in some cases appear written in the same hand. That's according to a formal complaint filed with the state on Wednesday by election law attorney Scott Salmon. Salmon, a Democrat, filed the objection with the state Division of Elections after reviewing the more than 1,300 signatures West submitted.
