CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - About 100 people came to worship at Glorietta Bay Park in Coronado on Friday. The 'Saturate OC' event was held by a Southern California congregation. They hold worship services and baptisms along beaches and waterfronts. It is the second 'Saturate OC' event in San Diego County in back to back weeks."It would be hard to understand if you're not a believer, but we prayed about it, and thought this was the next place we were supposed to come," said Parker Green, co-director for 'Saturate OC.'They held a worship service in Oceanside on Aug. 28, which drew hundreds of people. There were people seen not wearing face coverings or social distancing at that event.Green says they have face coverings at the event to people who want them. They also provide hand sanitizer. He also added he doesn't know of one person that got sick from their events."People can wear masks or not, we tell them to bring masks on our social media, but I think the crowd we tend to draw would be folks that would wear a mask in a public setting, especially outside," he said.People at the Coronado worship service appeared to be more spaced apart than those in the Oceanside event.Members of the county's Safe Reopen Compliance Team were at the event talking to people. They were also at the Oceanside event. 1318

Congress is currently honoring one of its own — longtime Georgia representative and Civil Rights leader John Lewis.Lewis' body was flown from Alabama to Washington, D.C. on Monday, and is currently lying in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.Members of the House of Representatives and Senate will have a chance to pay their respects before a public viewing takes place this evening. Among those who paid tribute to Lewis with speeches were Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California. CNN reports that the public viewing will take place outdoors due to the coronavirus pandemic. On Sunday, Lewis' body made a final trip over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, where half a century ago, he led several marches for voting rights. The first of those marches became known as "Bloody Sunday," as Lewis and other civil rights activists were met with force from state and local police as they crossed the bridge. The marches sparked a national conversation about voting rights for Black people, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed a few months later.Following events in Washington, Lewis' body will return to Georgia — the state he represented in Congress for more than 30 years. Lewis' funeral will take place on Thursday at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta — the same church that was formerly led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.A public viewing at the Capitol building is one of the highest honors a Representative, a Senator or elected official can receive upon their death. Rep. Elijah Cummings, a fellow Civil Rights leader, and Congressman leader, was the last person to receive the honor upon his death in 2019. President George H.W. Bush and Sen. John McCain have also had public memorials at the Capitol in recent years.Lewis died on July 17 after a six-month battle with cancer. 1872

Clarence Waldron, Aretha Franklin's former publicist, says he is grappling with the singer's health crisis."I have been pushing myself, denying myself of the chance to grieve," he told CNN affiliate WDIV-TV in Detroit. "It's very sad and I know it's inevitable and it'll hit me later on, but it's very difficult to hear that."The 76-year-old "Queen of Soul" is currently under hospice care for an undisclosed illness.A source close to Franklin told CNN's Don Lemon that the singer is being visited by people close to her who are reading messages from friends and loved ones and holding her hand. The Rev. Jesse Jackson visited Franklin on Wednesday, said Rainbow Push spokeswoman Chinta Strausberg.Waldron, who worked for the singer from 2014 to 2016, told the Detroit television station he's maintained a friendship with her.He said there were times when Franklin would have to cancel appearances for health reasons and on doctor's orders."We would simply say we are not doing any interviews at this time," Waldron said Wednesday. "She's going to be home resting, and that is all. There's no more to say than that."He said he never inquired as to what was wrong with Franklin."Nope! Nope! Nope! I never inquired. I never inquired at all," Waldron told WDIV. "I felt that she -- she's a grown woman. She'll say what she wants me to know and what she wants the world to know."The publicist said he was worried when Franklin was too sick to attend her December 2017 Christmas party. On Wednesday, more than 100 people reportedly gathered for a prayer vigil at Detroit's New Bethel Baptist Church, which was founded by Franklin's father, the Rev. C.L. Franklin.The-CNN-Wire 1676

Claire Foy, the actress who starred as Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series "The Crown" was paid less for her Golden Globe-winning performance than supporting actor Matt Smith, according to Variety. The entertainment publication cites the CEO, creative director and production designer of Left Bank Pictures, the company that produced "The Crown" for Netflix.Smith, who played Queen Elizabeth II's husband Prince Phillip, was reportedly paid more because of his previous work as the lead role the hit TV show Doctor Who — a move which producers say will not happen on "The Crown" in the future."Going forward, no one gets paid more than the Queen," said Suzanne Mackie, the creative director for Left Bank according to Variety. That won't mean much for Foy, as her run as Queen Elizabeth II ended after the most recent season of "The Crown." Olivia Colman will take over the role as the series jumps forward in time for season three. Smith will also not return as Prince Phillip, though it has not been announced who will take his place.Foy won the Golden Globe in 2017 for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama," in 2017, and was nominated for the award again in 2018. She was also nominated for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama" at the 2017 Primetime Emmys. The revelation comes just months after reports surfaced that actor Mark Wahlberg was paid .5 million to reshoot scenes from "All the Money in the World," while co-star Michelle Williams was only paid ,000. Both Wahlberg and Williams reportedly had the same agent at the time.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. Scripps National Desk. Follow him on Twitter @alexhider. 1700
