IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. Williamson says the money was to pay for rent, but they were able to raise it back in a few hours through GoFundMe.“I’m a really light sleeper," Williamson said, "I'm really shocked I didn't wake up, he (or she) must have been really quiet."Williamson said her roommate discovered the front door was open when she left for work around 5 a.m.  They are not sure how the thief got inside, but she says it's possible someone left the door unlocked before going to bed the night before. If you have any information, you’re asked to call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. 1223

Hundreds gathered at a house party in Howell Township on Sunday, less than a week after New Jersey tightened indoor gathering restrictions because of an increase in the rate of coronavirus transmission.Local police asked for help from Wall, Brick, Jackson, Freehold, Monmouth, and Ocean County Sheriffs and State Police because of the large number of people at the party. There were about 300 people at the party."Most of the attendees are compliant," police said. "Others are hesitant and are directing their anger towards the host who charged admission."Police arrested the host."At one point, we probably had about 500 people here," said Howell Police Sgt. Christian Antunez. "When we got here there were party buses dropping people off."Police said there was admission to get in — for women and for men."Some paid up to 0 for a cabana rental," said Antunez.A flier advertising the pool party on Wilson Drive lists prices and a DJ."I was in disbelief," said Pam Borges, who struggled to get into her own neighborhood when police blocked off all the streets. "My neighbors were talking about them urinating on their cars."It took police two hours to break it up.On Monday, Gov. Phil Murphy attributed many coronavirus cases in the state to parties."We believe that some of this increase is attributable to the number of indoor house parties we’ve been seeing across the state. Indoor gatherings are not safe," he said. This story was originally reported by Aliza Chasan and Christie Duffy at WPIX. 1517

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) - A crowd estimated at 400 people gathered in front of the Huntington Beach pier to protest the first night of a statewide curfew aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19, authorities said Sunday. The people gathered at 10 p.m. Saturday along Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street, crossing the highway when allowed by the traffic light, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Ryan Reilly.By 11:30 p.m., the crowd appeared about half that size, said Reilly, who was watching the gathering via surveillance cameras. The protest ended shortly after midnight, he said. The group was law-abiding "for the most part," Reilly said. One person was arrested for public intoxication. "Some, not all" wore face masks. It appeared the vehicles passing through the area were part of the demonstration and the same vehicles were seen moving north and south on PCH, Reilly said.Officers were there watching the activity but no illegal assembly was declared, he said.Sergeants posted in the Main Street area reported that all of the bars, restaurants and other businesses closed by 10 p.m., Reilly said. The department did not issue citations for curfew violations, he said. "We are seeking compliance and trying to educate people." 1235

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — Key improvements are on the way to the iconic Imperial Beach pier. The Port of San Diego is reallocating .8 million to make the changes to the city's biggest attraction. The shift comes after the city dropped a plan to build public bathrooms about a half-mile down the beach.Nearby residents had raised safety concerns. The pier, built in 1989, replaced its predecessors that had been unable to withstand large waves brought by storms. By next year, the pier should get more benches, beach-themed art, improved railings with beach-themed messages, more infrastructure for fishers, and a marker at the spot that is the most southwesterly point in the continental U.S. In 2022, the pier could get shade structures and a cantilevered extension lounge."People love to come and walk on the pier," Dedina said. "It's the town plaza for Imperial Beach."A spokeswoman for the port said the minor improvements don't need any further approval, but the shade structures and extension lounges will need to go through environmental review. 1378
