OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Oceanside Wednesday afternoon. According to the Oceanside Police Department, the crash happened around 4:18 on State Route 76 at Old Grove. When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital with a serious head injury. RELATED: Bicyclist killed in Escondido hit-and-run crashBased on statements from witnesses, police say they believe the vehicle entered the intersection on a green light. “The bicyclist also entered the intersection from another direction on a red light and collided with the SUV,” police said. OCEANSIDE (KGTV) - Police are searching for the suspect who reportedly shot a man at the Oceanside Transit Center Saturday night. Oceanside Police officers were called to the scene around 7:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found the victim on the ground suffering a gunshot wound the abdomen. The man was flown to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. At some point, the victim told police the suspect was staying at the Motel 6 along North Coast Highway. Police searched the hotel room the suspect was reportedly staying in, but the suspect wasn’t found. The shooting doesn't appear to be gang relates, police say. 683

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A car reportedly flew off a freeway in North San Diego County, causing a chain reaction collision.A 20-year-old woman driving a Buick reportedly careened off westbound SR-78 near El Camino Real, through the fence separating the freeway from the Vista Way, and collided head-on with a Ford Thunderbird being driven by a 47-year-old woman traveling eastbound.The collision set off a chain reaction, sideswiping a Nissan van towing a small boat. The boat then came loose from its trailer and flew into the westbound lanes of Vista Way, striking a Toyota Prius, being driven by a 43-year-old man, and a Chrysler 300 being driven by a 95-year-old man.The driver and a male passenger in the Buick both sustained major injuries and were airlifted to Scripps La Jolla hospital. Another male passenger sitting in the back seat of the Buick received minor injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center.The driver of the Thunderbird was slightly injured as well, but not taken to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.Police are investigating what led to the Buick driving off the freeway, but said they do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have been a factor. 1216

OPEC is losing one of its members.The small, gas-rich state of Qatar said Monday that it will leave the oil cartel on January 1 after nearly 60 years of membership. The country's state oil company, Qatar Petroleum, made the announcement in a series of tweets."The withdrawal decision reflects Qatar's desire to focus its efforts on plans to develop and increase its natural gas production," Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the country's minister of state for energy affairs, was cited as saying in one of the tweets.Qatar is the world's leading exporter of liquefied natural gas, accounting for about 30% of global demand.For a year and a half, Qatar has been under an economic embargo by some of its neighbors including OPEC's de facto leader, Saudi Arabia. In response, Qatar increased its gas production, the mainstay of its economy, last year.It will be the first Middle Eastern country to pull out of OPEC, which only deals with crude oil production. Qatar's contribution has been marginal compared to some of the cartel's biggest producers like Saudi Arabia and Iraq. It pumps about 600,000 barrels a day of the almost 25 million barrels a day from all OPEC members."Qatar is a fairly small producer ... it was not making very much so it's not that significant in itself," said Robin Mills, CEO of Qamar Energy, a consultancy firm based in Dubai.
