A 20-year-old Shelby Township, Michigan man has been charged with making a terrorist threat against Lakeside Mall.Tyler Tindell was arraigned Monday and locked up on 0,000 bond.Police say they received credible word of the threat on Friday. They tracked Tindell down by Friday afternoon. He was arrested at his home and a gun was found.Police say he had sent text messages planning a mass shooting at Lakeside Mall.During the investigation, officers from the Sterling Heights Police Department were sent to provide additional security to the mall and surrounding community.“At no time was the safety of anybody at Lakeside Mall in jeopardy; this, in large part, was because of the communication between all law enforcement agencies involved in this case,” said Sterling Height Deputy Police Chief Mark Coil. 833

(KGTV) -- Rideshare company Uber may temporarily put its operations in California on pause in light of its challenge of a state bill that reclassifies its drivers as employees.Earlier this week, a judge sided against Uber’s challenge to Assembly Bill 5. Under the bill, Uber will be forced to provide reclassified drivers with employee benefits such as health care and paid time off.Uber has previously said AB5, authored by San Diego-based state Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, limits its drivers’ flexibility and puts a financial strain on the company.In an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company’s fight against the bill may put its rideshare service in California on hold until November, when ballots come in on Proposition 22, a measure that would classify drivers as contractors.“If the court doesn’t reconsider, then in California, it’s hard to believe we’ll be able to switch our model to full-time employment quickly,” Khosrowshahi told MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle.Uber and fellow rideshare company Lyft both said they would appeal the judge’s ruling, which takes effect Aug. 20. 1131

(KGTV) -- The Department of Homeland Security is requesting US troops build temporary facilities to house up to 7,500 detained migrant adults, according to ABC News. The department would “loan and erect” the tents in support of ICE, the Pentagon told ABC. "DOD will not provide detention or custodial support for detained aliens at these ICE detention facilities," a spokesperson for the Pentagon said. "ICE is responsible for detention or custodial support."RELATED: TSA to deploy hundreds, including air marshals, to borderThe tents were requested at six locations along the border, but specific locations are unclear at this time. The announcement comes as the Pentagon shifted .5 billion to a counter-drug account that will be used to build roughly 80 miles of border wall, according to ABC. A 66-year-old woman was arrested and preliminarily charged Wednesday with driving into protesters in Indiana.According to the Associated Press, the woman police arrested was Christi Bennett.Hundreds of people were rallying and protesting through Bloomington Monday, following an alleged racist attack at Lake Monroe where several men attacked and apparently attempted to lynch Vauhxx Booker, a Monroe County Human Rights commissioner.Police say an electric scooter had been left in the roadway and a red Toyota passenger car drove up to it. A male passenger then got out and threw the scooter out of the lane of travel. That's when police say a woman approached the vehicle and stood in front of it with her hands on the hood.The vehicle then began to accelerate, according to police, causing the woman to go up onto the hood of the car. A man then grabbed the car and clung to the side of it as it accelerated rapidly on Walnut Street. The man and woman remained on the vehicle until it turned abruptly onto eastbound 6th Street, throwing both people off, according to police.Police say the owner of the car was staying at a motel in Scottsburg, Indiana. They traveled to Scottsburg and detained the man and woman involved. The man was interviewed and released. Bennett was transported to the Bloomington Police Department to be interviewed, but she and her legal counsel declined to provide a statement.She was arrested on the following preliminary charges:Criminal Recklessness, level 6 felony (two counts)Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, level 6 felonyLeaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Bodily Injury, class A misdemeanor.Bennett was released on a 0 cash bond within a couple of hours, the AP reported.Bennett has not been formally charged.The Associated Press contributed to this story.WRTV's Matt McKinney first reported this story. 1896
