Named for the ancient British site Stonehenge, where the sun lines up among ancient stones on the solstice, the sun lines up with the gap in La Jolla’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography pier on certain days of the year. The natural phenomenon makes for spectacular photos. This summer, Scrippshenge is set to take place August 7 - 9, according to the Photo Ephemeris app. “You might even get the shot on Aug 10/11 also, probably with a partially set sun,” says Stephen Trainor of Crookneck Apps. “You'll see the sunset line is ever so slightly to the north of the pier center: that's what you need, because sunset is the moment the sun disappears below the horizon, hence in order to frame the setting sun between the legs of the pier, it still needs to be just above the horizon, and therefore true sunset has to be just slightly to the north,” says Trainor. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Evel Knievel’s son is on a collision course with the Walt Disney Co. and Pixar over a movie daredevil character named Duke Caboom. A federal trademark infringement lawsuit filed in Las Vegas accuses the moviemaker of improperly basing the “Toy Story 4” character on Knievel. Las Vegas-based K and K Promotions accuses Disney-owned Pixar of intentionally modeling the Caboom character, voiced by Keanu Reeves in the movie, after Knievel — although Knievel’s name is never mentioned.Knievel's famous stunts in the 1960s and ‘70s included motorcycle jumps over the Caesars Palace fountain in Las Vegas and a rocket shot into Snake River Canyon in Idaho. LAND O' LAKES, Fla. — Pasco County, Florida Sheriff's Office is investigating in incident where a Sunlake High School Resource Officer slammed a student during an arrest.PCSO says that the incident occurred Tuesday when the school administration requested the school resource officer, Rich Stackon, remove a student from the cafeteria.Leading up to the incident, school administrators asked the student to return to class several times before the SRO was called in. The student was reportedly skipping class and being disruptive.According to deputies, when the male SRO attempted to place the female student in custody she resisted arrest.In a video, recorded by another student, the SRO can be seen slamming the student to the ground after resisting. 784

LA MESA, Calif. (AP) — A man who police say brandished a gun from a van and a woman who then crashed the car with five children inside, injuring them, have been arrested. A person on Friday night reported that a man in La Mesa had a gun inside a moving vehicle. Police say an officer later tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over. Shortly thereafter, the car crashed. The officer pursuing the suspect found five children inside without car seats. Police say the children suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for further tests. 573
