(KGTV) - A SpaceX Falcon 9 unmanned rocket will launch from Florida Wednesday afternoon with a planet-searching satellite on board for NASA.The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is part of a mission to find exoplanets that periodically block part of the light from their host stars, events called transits, NASA said.TESS will survey the nearest and brightest stars for two years to search for transiting exoplanets, according to scientists. NASA’s satellite will look for stars 30 to 100 times brighter than those observed by the Kepler satellite launched in 2009.TESS also will scan a larger area than Kepler, NASA officials said. It will spend about a month at a time focusing on one portion of sky, eventually covering the entire sky. (KGTV) - A San Diego student's death initially prompted the construction of the bridge that collapsed Thursday at Florida International University.Alexis Dale, an 18-year-old FIU freshman from San Diego, died in August 2017 when she was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Southwest 8th Street and 109th Avenue near the school, according to the Miami Herald.Dale had just started studying information technology in June, the Herald reported.RELATED: Pedestrian bridge collapse at university in Miami kills at least oneThe bridge that collapsed Thursday was being built at the intersection where Dale died as a way for people to cross the busy street safely.At least eight people were trapped and at least one person died due to the bridge collapse in Miami."I am heartbroken at the news of the collapse of the pedestrian bridge on 8th Street and the resulting devastation. (KGTV) — Former Blink-182 guitarist and Poway native Tom DeLonge is set to host a History Channel series centered on proving the existence of UFOs.The six-part series "Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation" will feature DeLonge's interview with a former military intelligence official, Luis Elizondo, who confirmed the Pentagon's UFO program. According to the Associated Press, Elizondo told The New York Times in 2017 he used to run the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program. (KGTV) — As a caravan of migrants from Honduras marches through Mexico, participants have said they are determined to press on to Tijuana.The caravan has also drawn daily discussions among U.S. leaders as to how to deal with the incoming group, who have said they plan to apply for asylum.It's not clear how close the caravan will be when Election Day rolls around on Nov. 6, but the group's journey is expected to play a large part in the elections.RELATED: As many as 15,000 troops to be deployed to borderThe caravan has said they fled Honduras because of the state of employment, quality of life, and the threat of crime they are faced with in the country — similar to a caravan which came to the U.S.-Mexico border in Tijuana in April.Here is a look at the caravan and actions by U.S. leaders since the group's journey began in October:Oct. 13 — Migrant caravan forms in the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula and begins to head north.Oct. 15 — The caravan arrives at the Guatemala-Honduran border, facing a blockade by local police for nearly two hours.
