An Omaha, Nebraska massage therapist accused of sexual assault now faces more charges.Omaha Police have now charged 62-year-old Melvin Buffington with five additional charges of Third Degree Sexual Assault.  OPD says a woman reported that Buffington sexually assaulted her during a scheduled massage appointment at Oasis Massage and Spa on January 12.  As they investigated that allegation, a second victim reported she had been sexually assaulted during her massage appointment on February 15. Prosecutors say Buffington moved the woman's underwear and penetrated her during a deep tissue massage Police took Buffington into custody on Feb. 18. On Feb. 20, Buffington had his bond set at ,000.  Omaha Police say the investigation continues and Oasis has cooperated fully.  829

As calls for police reform permeate among supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement, the Fraternal Order of Police announced on Friday it has endorsed Donald Trump for president.The FOP, which is the nation’s largest police union with 355,000 members, endorsed Trump for the second time. The union has not endorsed a Democrat for president since 1996. The FOP endorsed George W. Bush in 2004 and 2004, John McCain in 2008, and did not issue a formal endorsement in 2012.“During his first four years, President Trump has made it crystal clear that he has our backs,” FOP President Patrick Yoes said. “Our members know that he listens to the concerns of our brothers and sisters in uniform and is able to make tough decisions on the issues most important to law enforcement. President Trump is committed to keeping our communities and families safe.”While Democratic nominee Joe Biden did not win over the support of the FOP, the Biden campaign responded on Friday by announcing it has garnered support from 190 law enforcement officials throughout the US.The list distributed by the Biden campaign includes current and former sheriffs, prosecutors and attorneys general.“Joe Biden has always stood on the right side of the law and is offering a much needed vision for our Nation. When asked the question, would you feel safe in Joe Biden’s America? An online movement is raising awareness about the discrimination some high school students face at private and prep schools.One of many social media pages highlighting the issue is Black at Lovett. The organizers are two alumni who have taken submissions from students, parents and faculty, and share their experiences at the The Lovett School anonymously. Some of the stories go back decades.“I guess one of the things that was kind of surprising, but also we all knew what was going on, was that we all shared a lot of the same stories and a lot of the same experiences with the same students, the same administrators, the same teachers,” said Allison Burns, co-creator of Black at Lovett.The alumni have worked together using experiences from their current jobs to offer policy recommendations to Atlanta school and the community.“We want to make this better for future black students who attend this school, and that's the driving force behind this and why we want this to be an effort of love, a labor of love in some ways,” said Ashley Jeffrey, co-creator of Black at Lovett.Another page, True Colors of Columbia, highlights stories from Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York. The co-creators just graduated and echo what they say needs to be done to help the next generation at these institutions.“How many more discussions with the administration, petitions, and emails and meetings do we need to have until kids aren't being told that they're going to be lynched?” asked Lauren Gloster, co-creator of True Colors of Columbia.While grateful for the education, the girls say they've felt the need to step in to help peers better understand racial differences. They're also worried current students might not speak up for fear of losing scholarships.“We all felt very compelled to not only create a safe platform where students like us could share their experiences and their stories but could also feel a sense of unity and community as well,” said Imani Camara, co-creator of True Colors of Columbia.We reached out to both schools.Lovett sent us a statement saying they don't want anyone to feel silenced due to their identity. An Ohio woman is filing a lawsuit against the Montgomery County Jail claiming excessive force was used against her.Marsha Pate-Strickland is suing the Montgomery county jail for this video-tapped incident.It happened back in 2015.Pate-Strickland says it all began when she asked a corrections officer at the jail if she could exchange her juice for milk.In the video, you can see the officer grab her and slam her to the floor.Pate-Strickland said she complained that her arm and shoulder were injured. But she refused medical attention.Now she claims she has permanent and debilitating injuries.Officials with the Montgomery County jail have not commented on the lawsuit. 710

Activists say these team nicknames play up harmful racial stereotypes."The professional sports industry, specifically the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), and the National Hockey League (NHL) and the leagues’ team owners have failed to address the racist origins of deplorable race based marketing strategies of the past," the report read. "Often citing a long held myth by non-Native people that 'Indian' mascots 'honor Native people,' American sports businesses such as the NFL’s Washington 'Redsk*ns' and Kansas City 'Chiefs,' MLB’s Cleveland 'Indians' and Atlanta 'Braves,' and the NHL’s Chicago Black Hawks, continue to profit from harmful stereotypes originated during a time when white superiority and segregation were common place."Each of these professional sports businesses attempt to establish a story of honoring Native peoples through the names or mascots; however, each one—be it through logos or traditions (e.g., fight songs, mascots, human impersonators, and fan culture)—diminishes the place, status, and humanity of contemporary Native citizens. What is true about many of the brand origin stories is that team owners during the birth of these brands hoped to gain financially from mocking Native identity. As a result, these businesses perpetuated racial and political inequity. Those who have kept their logos and brands, continue to do so."The Blackhawks say their team name is different as it honors a specific Native American. Black Hawk was a leader of the Sauk Native American Tribe in the early 19th century. Black Hawk served as an ally to the British during the War of 1812 in hopes of pushing the US from Sauk land."The Chicago Blackhawks' name and logo symbolizes an important and historic person, Black Hawk of Illinois' Sac & Fox Nation, whose leadership and life has inspired generations of Native Americans, veterans and the public," the team said in a statement."We celebrate Black Hawk's legacy by offering ongoing reverent examples of Native American culture, traditions and contributions, providing a platform for genuine dialogue with local and national Native American groups.
