It’s a morning routine unlike any other. With every inhale and exhale Brother Sage starts feeling the flow.Once this spiritual healer centers his chi, he then decides to drink his own pee.“So, this is the water of life,” Brother Sage said while holding a bottle of his urine. “Some people know it as the water of auspiciousness.”Brother Sage is a believer in urine therapy and has practiced this technique for decades, using urine to wash his eyes, clean his feet and clear out his sinuses. He calls urine therapy a cleansing for the mind, body and spirit. Now he’s sharing this ideology with others.About once a week at the Boulder Public Library the Urine Therapy Group of Colorado meets up, with members discussing how drinking their pee has cured them from all sorts of ailments.“It is beneficial in any situation,” said Indira Bhatt Gupta. “If you have stomachache, drink that — it goes away. So many benefits.” For some, the benefits aren't just physical, they’re mental, too.“I feel like it cured my depression,” Dylan Flora said. When asked how long it took to feel the change, Flora replied, “instantly.”Urine therapy has been practiced in ancient Eastern cultures for thousands of years and now Western doctors are trying to clear up any misconceptions about believed medicinal benefits from ingesting urine.“It is entirely possible to get chlamydia or gonorrhea of the mouth from drinking someone’s urine if they have those diseases,” said Dr. James Wilk of UCHealth in Colorado.Wilk claims drinking urine can be dangerous, saying pee belongs in a toilet and not in your mouth.“Actual scientific studies failed to show any kind of benefit,” Wilk said. “There’s nothing, except for exercise, that is a panacea that works for so many diseases.”Brother Sage, however, is questioning modern science. “If you have a bee sting, a wasp sting, you stepped on something that's going to start bleeding," he said, "(urine) switches the pH to alkaline so the body starts to heal faster." 1995

It sounds like a scene from a monster movie.Children from a church group were playing in a creek in West Alexandria, Ohio, on Wednesday evening when one of their leaders spotted a 7-foot-long crocodile swimming nearby. There were 16 kids -- all first- through sixth-graders -- playing in Bantas Fork Creek, and adults were in the water and on a small bridge to keep an eye on them, according to Rick Turnbull, who helps teach the children.Another adult "saw something in the water, a shadowy object moving, and he yelled down to the person on that side of the bridge and shouted 'get the kids out of the water,' " Turnbull said.Rich Denius was in the water with one of his sons and helped get the children to safety."Give Jesus all the glory for protecting these kids," Denius said. The crocodile was about 20 feet away by the time everyone got out of the creek. Turnbull said it swam right under the bridge they were standing on."He wasn't afraid of us. He swam under it, popped his head up and looked at us," he said.A wildlife officer was called in and shot the animal. Turnbull said the kids had been taken out of the area before that happened. It was probably a petCrocodiles are not native to Ohio, and the state's veterinarian said it was probably a pet that someone dumped when it got too big."This was the first sighting, so he probably hadn't been in there very long," Dr. Tony Forshey said. The crocodile was 7? feet long and weighed 171 pounds, he said.Forshey said officials scanned the animal for a microchip ID but didn't find one, and there weren't any signs of other crocodiles in the area. It's an unforgettable lessonTurnbull said the church group takes the children down to the creek a couple of times each summer, when the water's warm, to study nature as part of their religious lessons. On Wednesday, they discussed how some fish will gather together near a light source to protect themselves from predators."It was wild that we'd had a lesson about predators lurking in the shadows," he said.West Alexandria is about 20 miles west of Dayton, so they also talked about the need to be aware of their surroundings -- especially after last week's shooting in a popular Dayton nightlife district.Turnbull also stressed the importance of obeying people in authority, which really paid off because when the time came, the children climbed out of the creek without complaint."It's a lesson that these kids will never forget," he said. 2456
It's a bird! It's a rabbit! No, it's definitely a bird. But hey, you be the judge.A video of a black animal getting a nice scratch is spreading quickly around the internet as people take sides in yet another great debate.Daniel Quintana, a scientist at the University of Oslo in Norway, is responsible for all this -- he found the video on an image-sharing website on Sunday and tweeted it, saying, "Rabbits love getting stroked on their nose."You see it, right?Since then, it's blown up -- all because Quintana played on a famous optical illusion wherein a rabbit looks like a bird, and a bird looks like a rabbit. His video alone has been viewed millions of times. But here's the thing: CNN has in fact verified that not only does the video show a bird, it's specifically an African White-necked Raven named Mischief. He belongs to the 847
