CHENGDU, May 26 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo arrived in Chengdu, capital of quake-hit Sichuan province Monday, where he visited a hospital and a distribution center of relief materials.     Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, immediately went to the General Hospital of the Chengdu Military Command Area upon his arrival. I was moved by the unity among people," said Sun whose left leg was seriously injured in the quake.     The hospital is also treating several survivors buried under the rubble for more than 100 hours.     Wu shook hands with four of them at the side of their beds. "You have created miracles of life. People across the country are thinking of you and hoping you to recover as early as possible. Let's believe no difficulty will stop us once we join hands," he said.     Wu thanked doctors and nurses at the hospital for working day and night to save lives.     He then went to the Chengdu Railway Station, which has become an important distribution center of relief materials from home and abroad.     Wu talked with volunteers working at the station. "Coming from every corner of the country, you are an important force in the quake relief efforts. I hope relief materials could be delivered to thousands of needy people through your hard work."

BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- From anti-terrorism drills to halt of flights during the opening ceremony, Beijing is taking every possible measure to ward off terrorism and ensure security for next month's Olympic Games.     China Civil Aviation Administration announced on Tuesday a new move for Olympic security that no planes would be allowed to take off or land at Beijing Capital International Airport from 7 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 8, the night of the Games' opening ceremony. BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- An executive meeting of the State Council (cabinet), presided over by Premier Wen Jiabao, on Wednesday decided to launch national comprehensive tests of dairy products and reform the dairy industry.     According to the meeting, the incident involving the tainted Sanlu milk powder reflected chaotic industry conditions, as well as loopholes in the supervision and management of the industry.     It is necessary to learn lessons, properly deal with the incident, improve the inspection and supervision system and strengthen the management of the dairy industry, the meeting said.     The meeting also reached six other decisions and ordered governments at all levels to implement them. It issued an immediate recall of milk formula made before Aug. 6.     Three infants have died so far. There are at least 6,244 infant victims of the contaminated milk powder, of whom 158, or 2.5 percent, have acute kidney failure, the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.

Your spirit has touched all Chinese people. I hope you will soon go back to your normal lives and build a better home."     At Dujiangyan Radio and Television Station, Li urged the technicians to repair the network as soon as possible to ensure that the people in the quake zone could enjoy radio and TV programs. DUSHANBE, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- China and Tajikistan have reached broad consensus on deepening bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, trade and their efforts to combat terrorism, according to a joint statement issued here Wednesday following a meeting between the presidents of both countries.     TO ENHANCE NEIGHBORLY COOPERATION     According to the statement, the two sides agreed that the Chinese-Tajik Good-Neighborly and Friendly Cooperation Treaty signed last year forged a solid legal basis for the development of bilateral ties.     Both sides spoke highly of the current development of bilateral ties and believed the rapid development of cooperation in various fields has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples.     They also made a commitment on furthering exchanges and cooperation between China's National People's Congress and the Tajik Parliament, as well as among special committees and friendly groups, in order to improve the legal basis for bilateral ties, consolidate traditional friendship and enhance understanding between the two peoples.     The two sides hailed the settlement of border issues and pledged to seek long-term peace.
