We all know exercise is great for your health, but a new study shows that there is one type of exercise that will improve your mental health the most. A new study by the Journal of Lancet Psychiatry found that group fitness classes helps with your overall mental health, more than solo exercises.  Thomas Obershaw not only takes group fitness classes, but he also teaches them. He goes to Transform Colorado to take their Lagree Fitness classes. He not only gets a killer workout in, but he says a group setting gives him the motivation to put in the hard work. "I love group fitness so much, because I do believe there is power in numbers," says Obershaw.Life can be stressful. Work can get in the way of a lot of things, including spending time with people. That's one of the reasons Obershaw loves to workout with others, because he doesn't want to feel isolated. "When you show up to a group fitness class, and you see everyone around you struggling, you don't feel alone," says Obershaw.The recent study also found those who exercise between 30 to 60 minutes a day have the best mental health. "When you show up and get to release all this stress and strife of everyday life, that's in your head, this monkey brain you have all day," says Obershaw. "When you get to forget about that for 45 minutes, it does something to you chemically and physically." The study also found those who participated in group activities had one less poor mental health day a month and felt a 43 percent improvement mentally. If you're looking to get the most out of your group exercise, team sports were rated number one for having the most mental health benefits. Another, popular group fitness class is cycling. They say the high intensity cardio mixed with motivation also gave great results. "It's easy to stay in bed, lay in bed, but exercise releases endorphins," Obershaw says. "It's science; when you release those endorphins that's great for your mind and it's great for your psyche." Whether you enjoy group fitness or not, it is scientifically proven the more you exercise, the greater the benefit.  2203

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida's coronavirus daily cases record was obliterated Sunday with 15,300, nearly 4,000 more than the previous high and 24 percent of the U.S. total, as daily tests soared to 142,981 but new deaths subsided to 45, the Florida Department of Health announced.The previous state record for cases was set one week ago Saturday with 11,458. Saturday's total was 10,360, which was the fourth time it hit five digits. Friday's total was 11,433 and last Sunday was 10,059.Florida also holds the record for most cases in one day in the United States. During the height of the pandemic, New York reached a peak of 12,274 cases in one day.Since the first two cases were announced four months ago on March 1, Florida's total has surged to more than 1 percent of the state's population to a total of 269,811.In one week, Florida's cases have risen by 69,700 for an increase of 34.8 percent. Last Sunday, total cases passed 200,000.Since the first two deaths were announced on March 6, the death toll has climbed to 4,242, which is ninth in the nation. The number of nonresident deaths listed by the state remained at 104 for a total death count of 4,346.Deaths rose by 511 in the state over seven days for 13.7 percent. The U.S. figure is 3.6 percent with the world at 6.4 percent.Testing has dramatically ramped up from just a few at select sites to massive places throughout Florida as well as nursing homes, jails and farm workers. The total now is 2,576,813, fourth in the nation, behind No. 1 New York, No. 2 California and No. 3 Texas. That figure is more than 12 percent of Florida's population of 21.4 million.Likewise the positive rate has risen to 10.5 percent overall from 10.3 the day before. WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Better Business Bureau is warning the public about multiple contact tracing scams.The BBB says scammers are taking advantage of people’s fears about contracting the coronavirus as public health officials roll out contact tracing programs.These programs are developed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by informing people who may have come in contact with someone who has tested positive.According to the BBB, the scam takes two forms – through messages or via phone call.The unsolicited messages can come via texts, emails or social media messengers. They claim that you’ve come in contact with someone with COVID-19, you’re instructed to self-isolate and link is provided to learn more details. Don’t click the link. It may contain malware that downloads to your device.The phone version of the scam involves a robocall claiming to be part of “contact and tracing efforts,” according to the BBB. Again, the call informs you that you’ve been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. After electing to speak to a representative, the “contact tracer” asks you to verify personal information. While contact tracers do normally reach out by phone, be sure to hang up if the caller doesn’t meet certain guidelines.The BBB says this how to tell a real contact tracer from a scammer:· Contact tracers will ask you to confirm your identity, but not for financial information. Tracers will ask you to confirm your name, address, and date of birth. In most cases, they will already have this information on file. They will also ask about your current health, medical history, and recent travels. They will not ask for any government ID numbers or bank account details.· Contact tracers will identify themselves: The call should start with the tracer providing their name and identifying themself as calling from the department of health or another official team.· Contact tracing is normally done by phone call. Be extra wary of social media messages or texts.· A real contact tracer will never reveal the identity of the person who tested positive. If they provide a person’s name, you know it’s a scam.· Think the link may be real? Double check the URL. Scammers often buy official-looking URLs to use in their cons. Be careful that the link is really what it pretends to be. If the message alleges to come from the local government, make sure the URL ends in .gov (for the United States) or .ca (for Canada).
