OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested in Oceanside after trying to smuggle methamphetamine with her 7-year-old in the car. Border Patrol agents pulled the woman over near the Oceanside Harbor Interstate 5 exit just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. After becoming suspicious of the driver’s behavior, agents found more than 48 pounds of the drug inside a duffle bag in the trunk. The 26-year-old driver, a Mexican national with a valid tourist visa, was arrested for felony drug trafficking. The minor child was placed in the care of local child protective services. On Tuesday night, thousands of fans will fill Ford Field in Detroit to see Taylor Swift perform. In the crowd, will be 15-year-old Tiffany Kleinschmidt of Waterford.The teen, who's a huge T Swift fan, suffered a traumatic brain injury last April after going into cardiac arrest at school. She's been in the hospital for months learning how to walk and talk again, but on Tuesday, she'll leave for the first time since the tragedy. She'll be going to the Taylor Swift concert. Taylor's music has been instrumental in Tiffany's healing. She's also a superfan of Taylor Swift and had purchased tickets.She realized she couldn't go, but didn't want to sell the tickets. She decided to donate them to someone who could really use a night out.So, Laken contacted Children's Hospital of Michigan. The hospital did an extensive search and decided Tiffany would be perfect for the surprise gift.Laken says she sees people who are sick all the time because of her job and she wanted to do something nice for someone who could use a break."I hope that she gets to meet Taylor Swift," she says. 1512

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — “The Most Magical Place on Earth” has reopened after nearly four months with new rules in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopened Saturday, while Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will follow four days later. All of Disney’s Orlando parks closed in mid-March in an effort to stop the virus’s spread. Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando closed around the same time but reopened several weeks ago after instituting similar rules to protect employees and customers from the virus. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Neighbors in North County call this "Taking Back Oceanside.""We need to cite, we need to ticket, arrest when possible," said Andrew Andrioff. It's a response to a growing homeless population that's leaving neighbors frightened and frustrated. The San Luis Rey riverbed is covered with needles, tents, trash and shopping carts. Andrioff is behind the movement to change that. He was among dozens of people who addressed city council Wednesday night. RELATED: Oceanside group aims to clean up trash, violence in San Luis Rey riverbedHe says the social services offered in Oceanside may be making the situation worse. "Our concern is that we’re attracting habitual vagrants to Oceanside through these services," said Andrioff. "we don’t want to enable these people to continue to their criminal and drug-addicted lives."Councilwoman Esther Sanchez says the city has three homeless outreach teams but they need more help. "This really is a regional problem, whatever one city does everyone is going to want to go there so we all have to go at the same time," said Sanchez. The problem has only gotten worse since the city is forced to take in more people than it can handle. "Are we going to really be responsible for Orange County cities that are cleaning out the river and giving them one-way tickets to Oceanside?" said Sanchez. "I really think what we should be pushing is a blue ribbon committee, the county, the 18 cities, as well as the state."Recommendations made to the council tonight included declaring an Emergency Shelter Crisis and increasing police enforcement. The Taking Back Oceanside group is set to meet with the chief of police on October 24.  1750

Not many people like being caught speeding and getting ticketed, but one person's solution to not getting caught might lead to even more trouble. The Metropolitan D.C. Police released video earlier this week of a suspect getting out of a car and smashing a camera designed to catch and ticket speeders. The video shows the suspect knocking over the machine, kicking it a few times and throwing the camera into a ditch before getting back into a car and speeding off. WJLA-TV reported that this incident caught on video was one of six incidents that took place in DC last week. As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made in connection to these incidents.  685
