DULZURA, Calif. (KGTV) - An East San Diego County man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of poisoning his wife with Thallium.The woman was taken to a hospital on March 15 with an unknown illness. Deputies said the woman had a level of Thallium in her system that was so high, medical staff believed her exposure was intentional.Thallium is a heavy metal which has been used in rat poison and ant pesticides.Sheriff’s detectives, along with the FBI, NCIS, and San Diego County HazMat, conducted an investigation and believed the woman’s husband was responsible for her poisoning.Race Remington Uto, 27, was booked into Vista Detention Facility. Dozens of people are gathering outside of the TCF Center in Downtown Detroit, trying to get inside to challenge votes which are being counted.People outside of the center say they are not being let in to challenge the votes. The Detroit Health Department said TCF Center is at capacity and that's what police are enforcing.Republicans are hoping to challenge the vote and claimed they were unfairly being kept outside where the absentee ballots are being counted. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- An act of kindness on the job went a long way for an El Cajon family. On Christmas eve, two El Cajon police officers didn’t hesitate to buy dinner for a family living in their car. While always ready to respond to calls, officers never know exactly what they'll find. On this Christmas Eve call, they found a woman named Juanita and her two children, living in their car. Detective Travis Howard is President of the El Cajon Police Officers Association. He says the officers bought the family dinner at Jack in the Box and then closed the call. But after their shift, they wanted to do more, dipping in their own pockets to get the family a hotel room for two nights so they wouldn't be homeless on Christmas. The two police officers who first helped the family didn’t do it for the praise and asked to remain anonymous. 859

(KGTV) — East County authorities are searching for a reported person trying to lure students at a nearby elementary school.El Cajon Police said officials at Flying Hills Elementary requested extra patrols Thursday over concerns of someone trying to lure students. Police said a 9-year-old boy was in an alley near the 1300 block of North Cuyamaca St. when a man approached in a vehicle. The man waved to the boy and said "get in the car." The vehicle was described as a red sedan, while the suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, with a mustache, red shirt, and black baseball hat.Police said they are aware of two other separate incidents as well. The first was on Tuesday in the 100 block of South Mollison Ave. A 12-year-old girl was approached by a man in a vehicle as she was walking to school. The man asked her a question and made a sexual comment before driving away, police said.The man was described as a white man, with balding dark hair, "scruffy" unshaven face, and possibly wearing a gray shirt and gray pants.The second incident occurred that same day just after 3:15 p.m. on Swallow Dr. A 13-year-old girl was walking home east of Finsh St. when man on foot approached her and said "come with me, I'm safe." He was described as a white man in his 40s, with a gray beard, short dark hair, and last seen wearing tan shorts, a dark shirt, black baseball hat, and black backpack.Police are investigating all three incidents, but said they do not believe they are related. Police have increased patrols in the area and at nearby schools.School staff from Lakeside Middle School also reported a suspicious incident as well just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. EL CAJON (CNS) - A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in El Cajon, authorities said Friday morning.Officers responded to the intersection of Washington and South Orange avenues about 11 p.m. Thursday, where they found a woman in her 50s with significant head injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Jeremiah Larson of the El Cajon Police Department.An investigation determined the woman was crossing the road when she was struck by the vehicle traveling westbound on Washington Avenue, Larson said. It was unclear whether the woman was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash.Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash, he said, but no other details were released.The name of the victim was not disclosed. 771
