SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – After an abrupt cancellation, a firefighting camp aimed at empowering young women has been rescheduled, according to the San Diego Mayor’s office. In a statement to 10News, Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s spokesperson Greg Block wrote:“This camp is about having fun and introducing young people to the possibilities of a rewarding career in firefighting. Families have been looking forward to this event for weeks, and Mayor Faulconer is not going to allow the threat of a lawsuit stop it from happening. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A student suspected of posting social media threats to four San Diego County schools has been identified, San Diego Unified School District announced.The student, only identified as a seventh-grader who attends an SDUSD school, reportedly posted the threats on Facebook and Snapchat, SDUSD police said.Threats of a potential shooting against Madison High School and Creative Performing Media Arts Middle School were discovered Wednesday, followed by similar threats to San Diego High School and the School of Creative and Performing Arts made Thursday, the district said.Specifically, the threats said in part, “Biggest shooting in history on its way. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Amid sky high gas prices and commuting headaches, more San Diego commuters are turning to telecommuting.Like many, Maria Parra's day at work begins with a cup of coffee.  The difference is her coffee is brewed in the kitchen at her City Heights home, feet away from her office.  Parra, who does coding for Sharp Health, started telecommuting in 2010."It only took me about a week to realize how great a situation it was," said Parra.RELATED: How to convince your employer to allow you to telecommuteParra says she saves thousands every year in commuting costs, from gas to wear and tear on her car.   Gone are those rush hour headaches."The time you are saving and the stress you are alleviating is great," said Parra.According to SANDAG, the average San Diegan spends the equivalent of 22 work days every year commuting to work. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A two-car collision killed at least one person in San Ysidro early Friday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. when a red car got off state Route 905 at the Caliente Avenue exit, then hit a sign before crashing into a black SUV.The SUV spun around and landed in a nearby ditch. That driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the red vehicle died at the scene.The cause of the crash is unclear. Caliente Avenue was closed for a few hours while CHP investigated. 567
