SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Dominic Pizarro lost his mom and his little sister on Thursday, after a wrong-way driver drove into their SUV on Interstate 805. Pizarro spoke with 10News as he and his grandfather drove back to San Diego to support Dominic's older brother - who was the first to hear the tragic news. Trevor Heitmann, 18, was behind the wheel of the 2014 McLaren?sports car that collided with the SUV, killing himself, and 43-year-old Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter, Aryana. "Both of them were the most caring...people full of life, you've ever met in the world," Pizarro said. The way his mother and sister died has dominated local news outlets since it happened.Heitmann was traveling at high speeds Thursday, heading southbound in a northbound HOV lane at about 4:30 p.m. near La Jolla Village Dr. before the collision, CHP said. Troopers believe he entered via an HOV lane access at Carol Canyon Rd. Pizarro said his family was as close as can be - the siblings were all musicians. "(Aryana) was just the most unique little girl in the whole wide world," he said. "She was your average girly girl at times, and at times she was this feisty little 12-year-old who was just so smart, so mature for her age."The siblings were raised by their mom and grandfather. Their mom Aileen was a therapist devoted to helping others.  "Everything (my mom and grandpa) had went to us," Pizarro said. "Every single dollar, every single cent was put into me and my brother and sister."Pizarro said the family will never forget their caring mother and feisty sister, as he also recalled the last conversation he had with Aryana. "She was showing me all these unicorn things she got, unicorn pencils, unicorn notebooks," he said. "She was showing me everything that she was going to wear or take to school because she was so proud of everything that mom had gotten her for school."Aryana was set to start seventh grade at the School of Creative and Performing Arts on Monday.Pizarro set up a GoFundMe page to support the family during this tough time, but also asked those aware of the story for their prayers.  2175

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for a woman wanted in two grocery store bank robberies.The woman, described as a Caucasian blonde in her 20s standing about 5-feet 6-inches tall, is believed to be behind two heists in La Mesa and Rolando areas this month.On Sept. 12, investigators say the woman walked into a US Bank inside the Vons grocery store at 6155 El Cajon Blvd. just before 3 p.m. She presented a demand note to the teller and fled with an unknown amount of cash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Get ready for sunny days at SeaWorld this summer, as the cast of a television favorite comes to San Diego.SeaWorld will host Sesame Street favorites including Elmo, Cookie Monster, and others with themed floats, music, and two performances along the parade route during the Sesame Street Party Parade.The parade will feature 10 massive floats depicting the areas kids know and love, like Mr. Hooper's Store and the Count's Castle.More than 20 dancers will jump and jive alongside Elmo down the parade route, along with a cast of furry friends.During the two mid-parade shows, performers will jump rope, hula hoop, and groove to guests' delight. One show will star Rosita, a Sesame Street favorite known for her guitar skills. The parade can be seen on weekends running from May 25 - Sept. 1 at the park. 830

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Hours after Navy officials said all fires aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard were extinguished, smoke was visible coming from the vessel at Naval Base San Diego early Friday morning.Radio scanner traffic obtained by ABC 10News indicated crews at the scene reported at least two fires onboard the ship and called for evacuations at around 1 a.m. Friday. The 10News Breaking News Tracker observed smoke coming from the ship’s front end.At around 5 a.m., a Navy spokesperson confirmed to ABC 10News that no evacuations were ordered and all fires were out. The spokesperson said investigators were looking into the matter.On Thursday afternoon, Navy officials said all known fires aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard were declared out. The blaze on the ship erupted on the morning of July 12, and the firefighting efforts involving hundreds of crew members and thousands of aerial water drops took four full days.Navy officials said they will not know the exact cause of the fire until the ship can be inspected fully.ABC 10News learned Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday will be at Naval Base San Diego on Friday to inspect the USS Bonhomme Richard.During a Thursday afternoon press briefing, Rear Adm. Philip Sobeck described the 22-year-old ship as ravaged -- its melted aluminum superstructure bent at a 45-degree angle -- but not dead in the water."The ship can be repaired," he said. "Whether or not it will be repaired will be determined."A total of 40 sailors and 23 civilian firefighters suffered various minor injuries, mostly heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation, while taking part in the battle to defeat the blaze, Navy officials said.The Bonhomme Richard is the third warship in U.S. naval history to bear the name, which means "Good Man Richard" in French and honors Benjamin Franklin's "Poor Richard's Almanac."The vessel has been homeported at Naval Base San Diego since the spring of 2018, when it returned from a six-year port switch to Sasebo, Japan, while becoming the command ship for Navy Expeditionary Strike Group Seven.City News Service contributed to this report 2114
