A Southwest Airlines flight from Chicago to Newark, New Jersey, made an unplanned landing Wednesday after a window cracked, the Federal Aviation Administration and passengers said.Flight 957 was diverted to Cleveland after a report of an issue with a window aboard the aircraft, FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Cory said. It landed safely at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, she said.Passenger Linda Holley texted her son Ryan with a picture of the damaged window."Window on plane cracked during flight. Landing in Cleveland to be safe. Everything ok but scary," one of her texts read.In another, she said: "Yes Southwest. Just heard loud noise. Very large crack with piece of window missing at bottom. Just landed. Everything ok. Don't know plan yet"The FAA said it will investigate what caused the window to crack. So far, the cause is not known.There was no depressurization in the cabin, and therefore the oxygen masks were not deployed, FAA spokesman Greg Martin said. A Mississippi school district has apologized and a high school band director has been suspended after the band staged a halftime skit that depicted police being held at gunpoint.The controversial skit came as the Forest Hill High School band from Jackson performed Friday during a football game against Brookhaven High School to the south. It shocked many at the game in Brookhaven, where just six days earlier two police officers were killed in a shootout with a suspect."I was sad because of what happened last weekend, and it felt like they were making fun of it," Sarah McDonald, a Brookhaven High School student, told CNN affiliate WJTV.A woman who said she was a graduate of Brookhaven High School found the performance insensitive."I was shocked by the halftime performance just because of everything that our community is going through," the woman told CNN affiliate WLBT. "No disrespect to Forest Hill, when they decided to do a performance, they should've took that into consideration that we were already going through a lot at this time. We are still trying to figure out what needs to be done about the situation." 1135

A man wearing what police called a "Halloween costume" with live ammo draped across his chest was detained on the UCF campus on Tuesday. UCF Police responded to a classroom for reports of a suspicious person. When they arrived, they found the man wearing a Halloween costume that included real live ammunition. The man was detained, interviewed and let go after police determined he was just wearing a costume and there was no criminal intent behind his costume.Police say he told them he was dressed as "the Terminator" and he was very forthcoming with the situation, answering all questions asked. During a press conference on Tuesday, police said they only received one call from a third-party about the man wearing the live rounds and that was very alarming to them. They want everyone to say something when they see something questionable. "We were surprised by only one call," said officials. "It may be a costume, it may be more than a costume, but it's our job as a police department to keep this campus safe." 1036

A Phoenix restaurant caught a woman posing as a high school cheer mom to pocket money.The employees at Fry Bread House were skeptical when a woman came in asking for donations.“She told us our manager had ordered us brownies and cookies for a donation,” said Chef Kris Harris. The woman said the money would go to the Xavier College Preparatory cheer squad.Fry Bread House employees called their owner. She spoke with the woman and quickly realized they were being scammed.The restaurant alerted Xavier officials, who had already received two other reports of this same behavior. “I guess she just looked like a normal woman trying to raise money for her kid,” Harris explained. “It kind of blows your mind. I guess everybody is trying to find a new way to get something.”Xavier officials confirmed the scam and want people to be aware.  874

A mother is grieving the loss of her teenage son, who was stabbed to death Monday morning in Palm Beach Gardens.Jovanni Sierra celebrated his birthday a day early. First, he and his friends played paintball and then they had pizza. He was about to turn 13. Sierra's mom, Karen Abreu recorded video of him with his friends, singing "Happy Birthday" to him, eating pizza. “I could just see it, that night he was so happy. I never thought in my wildest dream that I would get the news I got yesterday,” Abreu said.Jovanni went over to stay at his friend, Dane Bancroft’s house. They’ve known each other for years. “I had told him, are you sure baby? I want you to come home. I want to sing happy birthday, give you a hug and a kiss for your birthday tomorrow,” she said. “He’s like mom, 'It’s OK. I’m going to have fun, please, I love you,’ and that’s the last words he said to me."Palm Beach Gardens police say Dane’s older brother had his friend, 17-year-old Corey Johnson, over that night too. Johnson told police he waited until everyone was asleep around 4 a.m. to kill Jovanni, Dane and Dane’s mother, Elaine. Johnson was allegedly inspired by his Muslim faith, and violent jihadist videos, which encourage killing non-believers, he told police. Dane and Elaine were hurt. Jovanni was killed in a brutal knife attack. Karen says any rumors her son made fun of Johnson are wrong. “I don’t feel like my son is one to make fun of anybody. He’s always been accepting of everyone. It disgusts me because that’s not my son,” she said. Johnson was there Sunday night, celebrating Jovanni’s birthday. Jovanni had invited him. “We had the table reserved for 12 and Jovanni asked, ‘Mom, can Dane’s brother and friend (Johnson) join us?’ and I was like, ‘OK.’ We only had 12, but that was Jovanni.
