LONDON, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and British youth should learn from each other and carry on the friendship between the two countries, visiting Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong said Thursday.
He expressed the hope that the visit will boost the two countries' relationship as well as their cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, finance, investment, infrastructure, and international and regional affairs.
"This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression," he said. "It could remind us of remembering the history and cherishing peace."
During my upcoming state visit to the UK at the invitation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I look forward to having discussions with British leaders and engaging the British public on our bilateral ties. I hope this will chart the course for the future growth of China-UK relations, inject new impetus in practical cooperation between our two countries in all fields and enable us to jointly usher in a "golden time" for China-UK comprehensive strategic partnership.
