If the asteroid does get too close for comfort, the geniuses at NASA have hatched a plan.NASA says they could send a nine-ton “bulk impactor” to push the asteroid out of Earth’s orbit. The plan is called HAMMER, which stands for (deep breath) Hypervelocity Asteroid Mitigation Mission for Emergency Response.Though the odds are slim that the massive asteroid will hit Earth, in 1908, what is believed to be an asteroid crashed in Siberia with force 185 times as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.The impact flattened 80 million trees and killed hundreds of reindeer. Scientists say Bennu isn’t all bad.The asteroid is giving scientists a chance to test theories. IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - Medical examiners identified the body found floating off-shore in Imperial Beach as 29-year-old Zabiullah Rahmani.Rahmani leaves behind a wife of nearly ten years and two 7-year-old twin daughters. Ramzia Rahmani tells 10News, "I can say it was horrible and it still is." Less than a week since she lost her husband and the feelings are still raw, "The fire is burning in my chest whenever I see my girls ask about their father. It'ss too hard to face their questions, it's hard to answer their questions about their dad."She tells 10News, her husband left Saturday night to hangout with friends down in Imperial Beach. She says he was planning to be home for midnight but the hours after turned into Monday, "The doorbell rang and I saw there was two police officers and I felt bad. I thought maybe something happened to my husband." Thinking something bad but never imagining it would end up being her worst nightmare, "It's hard for me to believe hes not with me anymore." Thankfully she has support from family members like Zabi's cousin, "I'll try my best to be like a father to Zabi's kids and treat them the same way I treat my kids." IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — Wednesday, Imperial Beach city leaders unanimously approved a one-cent sale tax measure for the November ballot.The city says, if enacted, the measure would, "enable the City to prepare for medical or catastrophic emergencies including preparing local first responder services, updating emergency communication systems and maintaining rapid 911 emergency response capacity."The potential one-cent sales tax increase would also support restoring the city's long-term emergency funding that is being used to address the coronavirus pandemic."Even through these challenging times, the City must continue to address challenges with clean, safe neighborhoods and addressing homelessness to maintain Imperial Beach as a quality community to live, work and raise a family for all residents," said Assistant City Manager, Erika Cortez-Martinez.The measure includes accountability and transparency requirements, including public disclosure of spending and independent audits, the city says.If approved it would go into effect in the spring of 2021. 1079
