The couple fears their home could be next.A broken-down drain pipe that is 50 feet deep and 60 feet wide is believed to be the cause of the hole.On Tuesday, ABC 10News spotted City of San Diego crews taking measurements and assessing the sinkhole.John Knox said he owns his mobile home, but a property management company owns the land it sits on and might be on the hook for fixing it.According to Knox, the management company has ignored his calls regarding the hole.ABC 10News learned the city is now investigating. 755

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 63-year-old man was hospitalized after being stabbed in Sherman Heights Saturday night.The stabbing happened on the 2200 block of Imperial Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.Authorities say the man was arguing with a 19-year-old when the teen stabbed him in the ribs below his armpit.RELATED: PB man stabbed six times, suspect apprehendedAfter the stabbing, the suspect fled the scene, police say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A field trip to one of San Diego County’s beaches is making waves on social media after underprivileged children were taken to the beach in a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department bus. Pictures posted on social media show the kids being taken to Del Mar Beach in the bus Thursday. One parent told 10News she was upset when she found out how her child was taken to the beach.“It just doesn’t look right. It just puts us in an awkward point of view,” said Kimberly Steele. "I feel like they would not transport children from La Jolla on a bus like that."According to STAR/PAL, the nonprofit organization that put on the field trip, the trips are meant to foster a relationship between the community and law enforcement. The group is made up of civilian and law enforcement personnel including baseball, soccer, and surf programs. “The message has never been ‘you’re gonna be on a bus that’s used for anything negative,’” said Claire Leveau, Executive Director of the organization. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A cold-case murder shrouded in mystery for decades just led investigators across the country, straight to a San Diego man. In June of 1984, 15-year-old Reesa Trexler was found naked, raped and stabbed to death in her grandparents' home in Salisbury, outside Charlotte, N.C. For more than 35 years there were few answers. Last year, Trexler's younger sister, Jodie Laird, appeared on the Dr. Phil show to quash long-held speculation that she was the killer. On the show, she took and passed a polygraph test.RELATED: 40-year-old San Diego cold case solved with help of genealogical databaseThis week, an emotional scene unfolded for her and other family as Salisbury police announced the case was solved. The big break was DNA evidence uploaded to a public genealogy website, which pointed to a suspect. According to search warrants obtained by WBTV, the suspect was Curtis Edward Blair, who was still living in San Diego when he died of heart failure in 2004. His body was exhumed from his grave in North Carolina for DNA samples, before police closed the case. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died Saturday night following an officer-involved shooting in El Cerrito. Police say they received a call just before 8 p.m. from a 70-year-old woman who said her 52-year-old nephew attacked her with a brick at a home on the 5800 block of Adelaide Avenue. Two officers responded to the scene and found the woman, who they say had been hit in the head and chest. Officers found the man in the backyard of the home and tried to arrest him, but they say he struggled.Witnesses say the suspect then picked up a shovel and started swinging at police. "He continued quickly advancing on the officers while swinging the shovel, prompting one officer to fire his Taser, while the second officer fired his service weapon," San Diego Police said in a news release. The suspect was struck by gunfire at least once and died at the scene, police say. The man's identity isn't being released at this time. The suspect’s aunt is expected to be okay and no officers were injured in the incident. The department says one of the officers is a four-year veteran of the department while the other is a 16-year veteran.
