DENVER, Colo. — On Wednesday, a Boulder man released videos of his July 29 arrest, and said he's ready to take action against the Denver Police Department for "savagely" beating him. He also claims an officer sexually assaulted him with a baton.Michael Jacobs, a self-described student activist, was arrested on July 29 during a "Stop the Sweep" homeless protest at Lincoln Park, across from the Colorado State Capitol.He says he was rattling a fence at Lincoln Park to get an officer's attention and says he was taken down by officers."I was grabbed from behind, it felt like it was from my neck, no warning, no 'you're under arrest,'" Jacobs said.It's important to stress that little is known about what led up to the takedown. Video shows people shaking a fence at the park and then the takedown.In the video, you see an officer run towards Jacobs and then several officers holding him down. You can briefly see an officer use his baton against Jacobs in the recording."One of the officers took his baton, lifted it in the air and forcefully shoved it into my a**," Jacobs said.A probable cause statement released by the Denver Police Department claims Jacobs was part of a group trying to push down a gate at Lincoln Park and adds that they managed to bring it down and get inside.But in the video, Jacobs is outside of the fence.The police report states Jacobs violently resisted arrest and even grabbed an officer's pepper ball gun. It's a claim Jacobs and his attorney, Dr. Matt Greife, dispute."That could not be further from the truth," Jacobs said."To say that he attempted to disarm a police officer of their pepper gun or pepper ball gun, that's nonsense, he was on the ground way too fast," Dr. Greife said.According to Dr. Greife, it's been challenging to obtain vital evidence they should be granted to prepare for a lawsuit and a civil claim they plan to file."We should know what the police reports say. We should know what the body cams tell us," Dr. Greife said.Denver police say they launched an internal investigation and added that it would be inappropriate to comment further.Medical records provided by Jacobs' attorney to KMGH show a doctor couldn't conclusively identify sexual abuse from the incident.Jacobs is facing a felony charge of attempting to disarm a police officer. Damaging winds are agitating wildfires in Southern California on Thursday, forcing firefighters to stifle the flames.The largest of the fires was the Bond Fire, which claimed 7,200 acres of Orange County vegetation by early Thursday afternoon. The inferno was 0% contained as of Thursday afternoon, and doubled in size in just a matter of a few hours.Much of Southern California was placed under a red flag warning, high wind warning, and fire weather watch. Gusts are expected to reach 65 mph throughout the region, with some areas topping 80 mph gusts.The National Weather Service warned any fire that develops on Thursday could spread rapidly. There is also concern of down trees and power lines, which could add to the wildfire threat.Orange County Fire Authority issued mandatory evacuation orders for seven areas, and an additional seven areas were placed under voluntary evacuation orders due to the Bond Fire.Fire officials in Orange County said they were called to a structure fire in Silverado Canyon late last night that had spread into the brush."We had erratic, strong Santa Ana winds that quickly pushed the flames from the house into the vegetation," said Orange County Fire Authority Chief Brian Fennessy. "The fire grew rapidly." Fennessy said the Bond Fire has drawn a "robust response" from multiple agencies. Five-hundred firefighters are working to stop the Bond Fire, Fennessy said. DENVER — A former teacher at East High School in Denver was arrested after accusations she smoked marijuana with her students during a party at her Denver home. Rachel Farley, 29, was taken into custody Monday on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class 4 felony. According to an arrest affidavit, Farley invited students from her class to her home on August 18, 2017, to decorate clothing for Freshman Day. At some point during the event, she brought out marijuana and began smoking it with her students, the document reads.In February of this year, police say they were dispatched to the school after a student reported that Farley had been providing and consuming marijuana with her students at her home.Police interviewed nine students as part of the investigation and “multiple students admitted to smoking with the suspect,” the document read. Farley resigned from East High School on August 31, 2017, according to a statement from Denver Public Schools. The statement stresses, “there was nothing notable about her resignation - she simply resigned.”After her resignation, DPS says she had been working as a volunteer in the music and drama department at the school. But after the allegations surfaced in February, she was “barred from volunteering for, contracting with or being employed by Denver Public Schools in the future.”Farley was listed as still being in custody at Denver City Jail as of Wednesday morning.  1502
