(KGTV) - San Diego Gas and Electric shut off power in parts of East County Sunday due to very strong winds and low humidity associated with the Red Flag Warning fire conditions.The utility company said it called customers in Descanso, Beckman Springs, Pine Valley and surrounding areas over the weekend to warn them about the possibility of outages.On Sunday night at 11:30, SDG&E shut off the power to about 1,000 customers as wind gusts reached up to 69 miles per hour.Once SDG&E turns off power for safety reasons, it is not able to turn the power back on until it determines conditions are safe, the company said.RELATED: 10News Pinpoint Weather ForecastThe power may remain out until the Red Flag Warning expires, which is set for Tuesday at 5 p.m., SDG&E said.Four of SDG&E’s nine community resource centers were due to open Monday morning to support residents without power. Actress Katherine "Scottie" MacGregor, who played Harriet Oleson on "Little House on the Prairie," died on Tuesday at age 93 in Woodland Hills, Calif., a representative confirmed to NBC News. MacGregor was credited in 153 of Little House on the Prairie's 203 episodes. The show portrayed a family living on a Minnesota farm. MacGregor's Oleson was the general store owner's wife, and she played a character who had a bit of sass. When the show ended in 1983, MacGregor largely stepped away from acting after a three-decade career in the field. MacGregor's co-star on Little House on the Prairie Melissa Gilbert saluted MacGregor with an Instagram post on Wednesday. "She was outspoken and hilariously funny," Gilbert wrote. (KGTV) - Alpine parents fighting to keep sexually violent predators our of their neighborhood are more frustrated after hearing the State Department of Hospitals can't help them.10News first brought you this story in March. On Dec. 14, neighbors say a neighbor approached someone walking around a vacant property next door and found out she was an investigator for the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force (SAFE)."[They were] looking at the property as a possible placement for sexual predators," Father Keith Martin said holding his three-month-old baby girl. In December, they wrote a pile of letters to anyone they could reach, successfully keeping a convicted sexual predator out of their neighborhood.Now they want to ensure the home is removed from the list for good. The problem is the State Department of Hospitals says the homeowner is the one who agrees to rent to the predators. Neighbors want to find a workaround, "I think that's kinda silly, if they can put an address on a list they can take it off, I don't know what the big problem is," Grandfather of nine James Greaney said. A school trip for the eighth grade Mentor, Ohio Public Schools students to Washington D.C. was set and ready to go. Students were excited, bags were packed, lots of money was paid. But on Tuesday — the day before the trip — Discovery Tours, the company contracted by the school district to handle the trip, canceled. What's 511 students multiplied by 5 each? That's 2,505 paid.Discovery Tours told Mentor Public Schools it had to cancel the trip because the company was unable to receive final confirmation for the hotel rooms. The school district said it contacted the hotel itself to get more information."We were told by hotel management that, under advice from the hotel's legal counsel, all they could disclose to us is: Discovery Tours was unable to meet the contractual obligations," Superintendent Bill Porter wrote in a letter to parents.However, the school district said Discovery Tours told them otherwise.
